(Minghui.org) When we talk to people about quitting the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations, we should definitely include some basic facts about Falun Gong. However, some practitioners think that doing this will cause people to further misunderstand the practice.
I find that the practitioners who think this way are often attached to reputation and fame. They're concerned about how others will view them if they show their support for Falun Gong. Is this a dignified way to raise awareness about the persecution?
These practitioners often have a strong desire to help many people quit the Party, which, of course, is good. However, they spend an inordinate amount of time talking to people about superficial things like the ubiquitous corruption in the Party's ranks, or why this persecution is wrong—instead of focusing on how to get these people to quit the CCP.
If some people do wind up quitting, it's usually because these practitioners wore down these people's will to resist, or that these people agreed to quit just to be polite. They definitely didn't quit from their hearts.
Don't Talk at Too High a Level
When I first began explaining the facts about Dafa, I often told people that there were 84,000 cultivation ways in the Buddha school and that there are 3,000 microscopic worlds inside a grain of sand. I was so focused on what I wanted to say, that I never considered the impact of my words, nor other people's reactions.
I heard that one person whom I had talked to later began practicing Falun Gong. She told me that she had no idea what I was initially talking about but took up the practice because of how it improved her own health.
Kindly Encourage People to Quit the Party
My current approach to truth clarification is both simple and effective: if I maintain righteous thoughts the results are often good, and if I talk at too high a level, the results are usually not so good.
When I used to talk about the issues facing China, or the decline of morality in Chinese society, most people simply sighed, thinking that what I had said had nothing to do with them. This made it harder to get them to quit the CCP. Why? Because my words failed to move their hearts.
I have since found that talking about family and personal happiness makes it much easier to connect with people.
Along with improving my xinxing, I also got rid of the notion that I was being unfairly persecuted for my beliefs. I came to realize that I am here to cultivate, bear hardships, and assist Master in saving sentient beings.
I now talk to people about Shen Yun Performing Arts, the benefits of practicing Falun Gong, and how practitioners regularly participate in festivals around the world.
Along with studying the Fa and looking inward, I gradually gave up my attachment to reputation. Thus, my righteous thoughts have became much stronger and I am now able to focus more on how to best complete my sacred mission. As a result, people often thank me after I talk to them about the persecution.
Always Give Some Background Details about Falun Gong
One day, I met a practitioner in a park. As we were walking, we saw a woman sitting beside a lake. The practitioner walked over to her and asked, “Have you ever joined the Party or the Communist Youth League?” The woman said that she had not. The practitioner then asked if she had ever joined the Young Pioneers. The woman said that she had.
“Let me help you quit the Young Pioneers,” the practitioner offered. The woman appeared very happy and thanked her. The practitioner then gave the woman some software to circumvent China's internet firewall, so that the woman could visit Falun Gong websites.
I later talked with the practitioner about her approach. She told me that she had thought that the woman had willingly agreed to quit the Party and that she would understand the basic facts of Falun Gong, after visiting some Dafa-related websites.
I suggested that she could have talked more about the beauty of Falun Gong, then she could have helped the woman quit the Party.
Doing it this way, the woman would've quit because she no longer wanted to be associated with an evil regime that wrongly persecutes a practice that's based on the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
I also felt that the practitioner should not have assumed that the woman would've understood the basic facts about Falun Gong after she had visited some Dafa-related websites, or that the woman would've even made time to visit the websites!
Why leave such important details up to chance? When a person is right there in front of you, you should do everything you can to save them. Don't assume anything and don't leave anything to chance!
