Mr. Wen Weilong Repeatedly Persecuted for his Belief in Falun Gong

Nov. 25, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Gansu Province, China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Wen Weilong, and Mr. Wang Yalong, from Lintao County, Gansu Province, filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the communist regime, for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. They were arrested a few months after mailing the complaint.

They were transferred to the Tianshui City No. 3 Prison in late October 2016, and illegally sentenced to four years in prison.

Mr. Wen went on a hunger strike more than five months ago and his health deteriorated. Thus, the prison officials force-fed him.

Mr. Wen Weilong, 40, is from Lianfeng Village, Xintian Town, Lintao County, Gansu Province.

Arrested for Suing Jiang Zemin

Mr. Wen, Mr. Yan Yuanjing, and Ms. Sang Xiaochun were reading the book Zhuan Falun at Sang's home on April 13, 2016, when they were arrested by officers from the local 610 Office and the Xiantian Police Station.

They were arrested for filing criminal complaints against Jiang, who launched the persecution against Falun Gong.

Ms. Sang's husband, Wang Yalong, was also arrested after work. Ms. Sang was released at around 11:00 p.m., and Mr. Wen and Mr. Wang were taken to the Lintao County Detention Center.

Mr. Wang’s family received an arrest notice from the Lintao County Procuratorate at the end of May. The county court had secretly tried both of them.

However, nothing more has been disclosed to his family, other than that the verdict against Mr. Wen had been delivered to the Dingxi City Intermediate People's Court for review.

Mr. Wen’s Prior Arrests

Mr. Wen has been illegally sentenced and detained several times over the past years for practicing Falun Gong. He was illegally sentenced to a four-year prison term in April 2002 and taken to Lanzhou Prison. He was transferred to Dingxi Prison in late November 2002.

The guards at Dingxi Prison beat him with electric batons because he went on a hunger strike to protest his illegal imprisonment. He was hung by his handcuffed wrists and ordered to perform hard labor.

He was released on June 5, 2004. However, he was still often harassed by police.

Mr. Wen was arrested again on February 9, 2008 when he was working at a brick plant. He was illegally sentenced to six years in Tianshui Prison. Because he kept practicing Falun Gong, the guard, Dong Zhaoji, moved him into a single cell on the third floor and beat him with electrical batons. Additionally, four criminals tied him to a bed frame and force-fed and beat him.

Background Information

Jiang Zemin, as head of the CCP, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong in July 1999.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners over the past 17 years. More have been tortured for their belief, and even killed for their organs. Jiang is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the CCP established an extralegal security organ, the 610 Office, on June 10, 1999. This organization overrides the police and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's policy regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law now allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are exercising this right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
