Nov. 27, 2016 |   By a Minghui corespondent in Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Du Xinggui was tried on November 10, 2016, by the Shuncheng District Court in Fushun City. Mr. Du pleaded not guilty and defended himself. The court did not reach a verdict.

Mr. Du, 65, was arrested by officers from the Gebu Police Station on June 29, 2016, after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. The police took him to the Fushun Detention Center. The center refused to admit him because he failed the physical.

Nevertheless, the police submitted his case to the Procuratorate. The Procuratorate notified him on September 1 that they would file charges against him. Mr. Du decided to defend himself and did quite a bit of research before the trial.

He told the court that freedom of speech is protected by the constitution and that handing out Falun Gong informational materials is not a crime.

Mr. Du has been arrested seven times since the communist regime started the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999.
