Teacher in Shandong Province Sentenced to Four Years in Prison for Suing Jiang Zemin

Nov. 27, 2016 |   by a Minghui correspondent in Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Yan, 42, a teacher in Zhaozhuang City, Shandong Province, filed a criminal complaint against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for her suffering during three years of forced labor for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party.

She mailed her case to the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate on June 23, 2015.

For filing her complaint, she was arrested, tried on March 24, 2016, and sentenced on September 14 to four years in prison.

Ms. Wang appeared in court with a tube inserted into her nose. She had been forced-fed at the detention center for seven days by that time.

Later, police officers at the detention center handcuffed and shackled her for 18 days. She began to urinate blood during that time, but the torture did not stop.

Ms. Wang is very weak at this time and still being held at the detention center.

Three Years of Forced Labor

At the age of 27, Ms. Wang was arrested and sent to Shandong Province First Women's Forced Labor Camp on March 9, 2001, to begin her three-year term.

She was mentally tortured during brainwashing sessions. Camp guards forced her to read and watch propaganda attacking Falun Gong and its founder.

Since she refused to renounce her belief, she was confined in a cell with other inmates who monitored her around the clock. She was beaten and verbally abused all the time. She was also deprived of sleep and restroom use. She became incontinent and was unable to sleep for more than ten days. She was also forced to sit without moving on a “small stool” and beaten if she moved. After a month of torture, she became mentally unstable.

Ms. Wang was also forced to do hard labor every day starting at 5:00 a.m. She was often forced to work overtime until midnight. Her health deteriorated.

A Second Forced Labor Term

Ms. Wang was arrested again on May 13, 2004, just a few months after her release from the labor camp. While she was held at the detention center, she was tortured and interrogated. As the result, she had a relapse of osteomyelitis (inflammation of the bone and bone marrow). Ms. Wang had this condition as a child and nearly had a limb amputated.

She was later given two years of forced labor and again sent to the Shandong Province First Women's Forced Labor Camp on June 1, 2004. By that time, her leg had become badly swollen.

Later, she was sent to the hospital for examination and was released afterward on June 30, 2004. She resumed Falun Gong exercises at home and recovered from her osteomyelitis after a month.

Ms. Wang began to practice Falun Gong while studying in Tianjin University in 1997, which she credits for curing her severe headaches and neurasthenia.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
