Jiangsu Woman, 68, Holds Hunger Strike to Protest Repeated Arrests for Her Faith

Dec. 17, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Jiangsu Province

(Minghui.org) A Suzhou City resident was arrested again on November 17, 2016, for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

Ms. Jiang Suzhen credits Falun Gong with her return to health, and she has never shied away from sharing her story with people and telling them that the persecution is wrong. Her simple acts have landed her in police custody on numerous occasions.

The 68-year-old widow has been arrested for more than 30 times since 2012. Each time she was detained ranging from one week to more than a month. In June 2014, the police even deceived her into signing over her property to them upon her death.

The Suzhou Detention Center declined to admit Ms. Jiang following her latest arrest, citing her abnormal blood pressure readings. The police drove her to a local hospital, where she was given some pills to lower her blood pressure. A few hours later the police convinced the detention center to admit her.

Zhang Jie from Gusu Court visited Ms. Jiang at the detention center on November 18. He tried, unsuccessfully, to convince her to sign the interrogation record.

Ms. Jiang began a hunger strike on November 24, and was force-fed.

The court scheduled a hearing for December 13 but canceled it three days before the court date. Ms. Jiang’s lawyer was told that the Procuratorate needed to gather additional evidence.
