Coping With Loss with a Compassionate Heart

Dec. 19, 2016 |   By Ping Fan, a Falun Gong practitioner in Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) Qinglian practices Falun Dafa. She is in her forties. Her husband died in a car accident when she was in her thirties. She was devastated and unable to eat for several days. Then she remembered a teaching from Dafa.

Master said,

"You should always be benevolent and kind to others, and consider others when doing anything. Whenever you encounter a problem, you should first consider whether others can put up with this matter or if it will hurt anyone. In doing so, there will not be any problems." (Zhuan Falun)

She paused and considered her in-laws. The loss of their son had aged them. She looked at her two sons, one in the first grade, and the other in high school. She had to support her family now and knew they needed her to be strong.

Her in-laws started to treat her poorly. They were distraught over losing their son so young and were afraid that Qinglian would remarry and leave them. So they took away the savings bank book that they had given Qinglian.

In addition to having to care for her two children, Qinglian's husband died with debts. But she remained calm and tried to look at things from her in-law's perspective.

In order to support her two sons and pay off her husband's debts, Qinglian worked extra hours.

Qinglian's in-laws lived in the country, but she went to visit them every week. They still treated her indifferently. So she sat them down for a discussion.

She told them she was not interested in finding a new husband, and that she just wanted to work hard and raise her children. She said that they would always be her family, and she would do her best to take care of them.

Her in-laws were moved and began to treat her like a daughter again.

Qinglian cultivated herself diligently over the next 10 years and life improved. She purchased a new car and apartment. She offered her previous residence to her in-laws because it was more convenient for them in the winter.

Her in-laws also returned the bank book.

Qinglian taught her sons well, and they now visit their grandparents often and are always respectful.

Qinglian always considers other people first. Last year, she was in a car accident. The other driver was at fault, a young man who did not have any family except a new wife. He'd to take out a loan to purchase his pickup truck, and he used it for his business.

Qinglian did not ask anything from him. The neighbors in the area talked about her kindness. The young man's new sister-in-law said, “Falun Dafa practitioners are really kind!”
