(Minghui.org) After Ms. Dong Fenghong and her husband began practicing Falun Gong, they regained their health, and strove to become better people. When the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999, however, they were detained by the police, who extorted tens of thousands of yuan from them.
Endless Persecution, Spiritual Hardship
Ms. Dong, in Wucheng County, Dezhou City, Shandong Province, was arrested on January 26, 2016, for distributing materials containing Falun Gong information. The police ransacked her home, and she is now being held in the Dezhou City Detention Center, leaving behind her handicapped husband and developmentally disordered son, with no one to take care of them.
This is her third arrest and the second time her home has been ransacked.
When they were first arrested and detained, it scared the couple so much that they stopped practicing Falun Gong. They were later involved in a serious car accident that left Ms. Dong on crutches and her husband incapacitated. Being too poor to seek medical care, they again took up the practice of Falun Gong. Their health was soon restored.
Officers from the Wucheng County Police Department and the Jiamaying Village Police Station broke into their home in May 2012, and ransacked it. When Falun Gong materials were found, the couple was arrested and taken to a local detention center.
Ms. Dong's sister went to visit her in the detention center. When she tried to see her sister she was beaten by the guards to the point that she had to be hospitalized. Ms. Dong was later sent to the Jinan Forced Labor Camp to be held for one year.
Faced with the sudden shock of his mother's one-year term in the labor camp, Ms. Dong's son became mentally disordered, and as a result, his wife divorced him. Ms. Dong was left with the burden of taking care of her mentally disordered son.
In 2015, Ms. Dong filed criminal complaints against the former Chinese Dictator Jiang Zemin for the persecution she endured. Officers from the Wucheng Police Department summarily went to her home and arrested her. She was detained in Dezhou City Detention Center for a month.
