Thousands Sign Petition Supporting Prosecution of Former Chinese Leader Jiang Zemin

Feb. 16, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent

(Minghui.org) Over 200,000 Falun Gong practitioners and their family members have filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin with the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme People's Court since the end of May 2015.

Jiang is the former head of the Chinese communist regime who launched the violent persecution of Falun Gong in China in 1999.

Meanwhile, many Chinese citizens have joined in reporting Jiang's crimes and actively support Falun Gong practitioners' effort to bring Jiang to justice.

Over 3,200 in Xinbin, Liaoning Province Sign Petition

Within four months, 3,240 people from Xinbin, Liaoning Province signed a petition calling on China's highest prosecution and investigation office to indict Jiang for the crimes he had committed while in power.

One villager said, “Jiang didn't do anything good for the Chinese people. He only brought disaster to the country. His forte is to torment common Chinese citizens.”

“We must sue Jiang,” another villager said after learning that Jiang had sold over 100 square kilometers of Chinese land to Russia. “He is a traitor. He must be prosecuted. I support you.”

A farmer said, “Jiang must be sued. Falun Gong is great. If I didn't believe this, I would have died from a car accident a few years ago. Jiang persecuted so many good people. He must be brought to justice sooner rather than later. The Communist Party is going to collapse if Jiang is not arrested for committing those crimes.”

More Participation from Different Provinces

Over 5,000 people in Chiping County, Shandong Province have signed criminal complaints against Jiang. Some used their real names, while others chose to use pseudonyms.

In Pingshan County, Hebei Province, 711 people signed a criminal complaint letter against Jiang between October 2015 and the end of January 2016, demanding that Jiang's crimes be investigated and he be prosecuted publicly.

The complaint letter was delivered to the Supreme People's Procuratorate online; it has received a confirmation receipt and case number.

When practitioners went to a village to collect signatures, one villager said, “Jiang should have been sued much earlier. Look at what he has done to the nation–rampant corruption and selling land owned by the Chinese nation to other countries. You have to let us know when he's publicly tried.”

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
