(Minghui.org) A truck swerved along an icy road in a county in the northeast of China on December 24, 2007. The drunk driver hit Lao Gao, an elderly man, from behind. The victim was dragged for 100 meters before the truck finally pulled over. Concerned passersby called the police. After lying unconscious for more than two hours on the icy road, Lao Gao was transported to a hospital. When Ms. Qingyuan, his wife, was informed of the accident, she rushed to the county hospital.
The severe impact had fractured Lao's skull and caused massive bleeding in his cranium. Doctors told her that her husband could lose his life during the operation. She astounded the doctors with her strength. She calmly accepted their prognosis and signed her consent for the operation to proceed. She even comforted the driver's wife, “All will be fine. My husband will get well soon.”
Predicted Vegetative State
Lao Gao was wheeled out of the surgery six hours later, heavily bandaged with various tubes inserted all over his body. Because this elderly couple’s children lived in a distant city to the south, Ms. Qingyuan was the only person at his bedside. One of the doctors asked the 60-year-old lady if she would be alright. She replied smilingly that she would be fine.
Doctors removed the stitches on the seventh day. But they restitched the wounds the next day because they had not healed well and cerebral fluid had continued to leak. On the 10th day, the hospital transferred him to an orthopedic hospital. His head and chest were swollen with fluid, his broken bones were yet to knit and the left side of his body was completely unresponsive. The specialist told Ms. Qingyuan that even after her husband recovered, he would remain in a vegetative state.
Introducing Falun Dafa to People
Despite speculation about her husband’s condition, Ms. Qingyuan continued to nurse her husband. Doctors were surprised and asked her, “What is your secret? Your fortitude is amazing.” She replied, “I practice Falun Dafa.”
Both doctors and nurses alike pretended to ignore her words, because of the persecution of Dafa. But, she realized her words had an affect because family members of other patients sought her advice. They said, “The doctors recommended that we consult you about your nursing expertise.”
She clarified the truth about Falun Dafa to them. Soon after, many critically ill patients miraculously recovered and were discharged from the hospital.
Extraordinary Healing
Ms. Qingyuan constantly whispered into her unconscious husband’s ear, “Falun Dafa is good” and encouraged him to recite the words in his heart. Within 60 days, Lao recovered from his injuries. His doctors repeatedly exclaimed, “It's a miracle beyond imagination!”
After his recovery, Ms. Qingyuan talked with her husband and they decided to start discharge procedures to avoid incurring further hospital costs for the driver and his family. The doctor said, “It is best you reconsider. After your discharge, you will have to bear any further medical costs on your own.” She replied, “Everything will be fine.”
Ms. Qingyuan called the driver and asked him to come and settle the hospital fees. The driver and his wife were in a state of disbelief. They expected that Lao would have died from his injuries. They only came to the hospital after they had called the doctors and nurses. They were overjoyed to learn of Lao’s recovery. They expressed their gratitude at his kind gesture of discharging himself to save their family money.
Gratitude Towards Falun Dafa
When he returned home, Lao knelt before a picture of Master Li, the founder of Falun Dafa. He bowed his head in gratitude and said, “Thank you Master for saving my life!”
His home was soon packed with delighted friends and neighbors, who were surprised at his extraordinary recovery. One classmate said, laughing, “You look even better than before!”
Lao replied, “My life was saved by the Master of Falun Dafa. While I was unconscious, my wife whispered “Falun Dafa is good” in my ear every day. I also heard her tell me to recite this in my heart. In the past, I was against her practicing Dafa. I was afraid she would be killed, and I was afraid of the trouble her practicing could bring our family. I scolded her for trying to go against the government's orders, for defying the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). But, my experience has made me believe in Dafa. I have now quit the CCP.”
In the chill of early spring, this true story about the goodness of Falun Dafa quickly spread all over the small northeastern town.
