(Minghui.org) After almost a year of detention, Ms. Lin Huawen was tried for “using a cult organization to undermine law enforcement” on February 25 of this year. This is used as a generic charge when sentencing Falun Gong practitioners.
Ms. Lin was arrested for handing out free DVDs of Shen Yun's performances. The Shen Yun performers are reviving China's divine culture, which was nearly lost during the communist regime's rule.

Ms. Lin's lawyer argued that by distributing DVDs, Ms. Lin did not break any law, damage any property or disturb public order. Consequently, she did not undermine law enforcement.
As for the Falun Gong related content in the DVDs, there is no law in China that criminalizes Falun Gong. Hence the arrest itself was illegal and the trial was unjustifiable.
The trial lasted two hours and the judge did not issue a verdict. Ms. Lin was returned to the detention center.
