(Minghui.org) Several practitioners in my Fa-study group recently became ill and each went to see a doctor. In fact, similar situations also occurred at other Fa-study groups and some practitioners even lost their lives due to illness.
With regard to the recent spate of illnesses, practitioners took different approaches: some talked with these practitioners, hoping they could strengthen their righteous thoughts; others helped them manage their personal affairs; some took turns to visit these practitioners to form a righteous field around them; others organized practitioners to send forth righteous thoughts as a group, and so on.
While helping these practitioners in various ways, some also began to judge the actions of other practitioners. There were also those who thought that practitioners, as one body, should help each other as much as possible. Relatives of the practitioners facing the tribulation praised the group for the outpouring of support, however, this led to some practitioners criticizing those who didn't come to join and help. Some reminded others to do the three things well and not be distracted by the illness tribulations.
I think that when practitioners experience physical discomfort and decide to see a doctor, it is based on human notions, not Fa-principles. In fact, many of these practitioners who experience illness have not done well in their daily cultivation.
When the tribulations became severe, they did not have strong righteous thoughts and went to see a doctor to relieve their suffering. On the other hand, in such circumstances, they are often attached to their illnesses, and it was hard to make a breakthrough in a short time even when other practitioners shared understandings with them.
Master said,
“Some people still have a chance, but some no longer do. For some there is still time left, and for some their only hope is to sprint. But if the person hasn’t laid an adequate foundation, and if the person’s understanding of the Fa is limited, how could he have the drive to persist? Have you been diligent? If you haven’t laid a solid foundation that’s built on the Fa, you won’t be able to do that. That kind of determination and firm sense of conviction come from the Fa.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2015 West Coast Fa Conference”)
I hope that more practitioners can cultivate better in their daily life, rather than waiting until tribulations occur to start cultivating seriously. We all need to do the three things well.
