(Minghui.org) Since May 2015 to the end of March 2016, 2,110 people from the Dandong region (including Fengcheng City) have signed a petition to support the lawsuits that are being filed by Falun Gong practitioners against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin.
“Jiang Zemin never did a good thing during his reign,” one of the signers said. “People were laid off, officials were corrupt to the core, and Falun Gong was persecuted. It’s all due to him, so he has to be brought to trial.”
Another said, “Falun Gong is really great! You’ve persevered in spreading the truth for nearly 20 years, and I frequently see your posters that expose the persecution. Keep up the good work!”
The persecution against Falun Gong violates Chinese law as well as international laws agreed to by the Chinese government.
Background
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), overrode other Politburo standing committee members and initiated the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases. More than a thousand practitioners in Dandong City have exercised that right and filed criminal complaints against the former dictator since May 2015. More and more people are learning about Falun Gong and the persecution and signed the petition, which calls on China's legal system to investigate Jiang's crimes.
