(Minghui.org) As soon as I began to practice Falun Dafa, undercover agents from the 610 Office started to harass me.
My husband was totally deceived by the lies the evil Chinese Communist Party (CCP) spread about Falun Dafa. He thought that I had gone wrong when I started the practice and was afraid I would get us into trouble. His fear meant that he was not at all supportive of my practicing Dafa.
My Husband’s Opposition
Because my husband did not really understand Falun Dafa, every time he saw me doing the exercises, he would ask me to go dancing with him as a way of distracting me. I had to do the exercises in another practitioner's home so I would not upset him.
I left materials out for him to read so he could learn the truth about Dafa, but he was so upset about my practicing that sometimes he even tore up the Minghui Weekly and other informational materials I had hoped he would read.
It was also difficult to study Zhuan Falun or other Dafa books if he was at home. I had to do it without him knowing about it. It was very difficult to truly absorb the high level principles taught in the books when worrying about him getting mad if he knew I was studying.
I tried to clarify the facts about Dafa to him over and over, but he refused to listen to me. His attitude and fear about Dafa had me worried about his future.
Teacher said:
“When disciples have ample righteous thoughtsMaster has the power to turn back the tide”(“The Master-Disciple Bond” from Hong Yin II)
I thought to myself, “Teacher is taking care of me, so I don’t have anything to worry about. It is up to me to decide what is in my own dimensional field.”
By studying the Fa, doing the exercises, and sharing with other practitioners, my health was restored and my xinxing greatly improved. It was clear how much I had benefitted from practicing Falun Dafa, but my husband was still deceived by the lies and slander the CCP spread in its media campaigns to turn public opinion against it.
One time when I was reading the Minghui Weekly at home, he grabbed it and ripped it into pieces while shouting at me: “The CCP doesn't allow you to practice Falun Dafa, so you should not practice it! If you continue, I will divorce you!”
I felt so sad, tears ran down my face.
I gave the situation of how to deal with him some serious thought. Of course, the choice was clear. “If you force me to choose between you and Falun Dafa, I have to continue with Falun Dafa,” I told him. “You know that by practicing Falun Dafa, Teacher Li Hongzhi has healed all my illnesses; you have seen it and know this is true. But you still don't want to say anything positive and even go against your own conscience—is this rational behavior?”
He was shocked by what I said, truly speechless.
Looking Within
Cultivation is very serious. Teacher told us:
“If you do not change the human logic that you, as an ordinary human, have formed deep in your bones over thousands of years, you will be unable to break away from this superficial human shell and reach Consummation.”(“Cautionary Advice” from Essentials for Further Advancement)
Teacher's Fa enlightened me and I had the thought: “I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. For my husband to be the spouse of a practitioner means that he possesses good fortune and has a predestined relationship with the Fa. One should not create more karma and destroy oneself when one is so fortunate to have the opportunity to know Dafa.
“I have a responsibility to save him, so I must change myself, look for my own shortcomings, put myself in his shoes. I must respect him, care about him, and hold myself to the standards of a practitioner of Dafa.”
With this thought, I searched within myself and located attachments to vanity and selfishness. I soon got rid of them, and with Teacher's guidance, I was able to persuade my husband to listen to the recordings of Teacher's Fa.
Positive Changes
Thanks to Dafa's benevolence, my husband was changing himself. One day in September 2014, he held my hand and said to me, “I will never be against your practicing Dafa again.” I felt so thankful to Teacher and Dafa for guiding us out of our family tribulation.
With the help of fellow practitioners, I installed a satellite receiver so we could play NTDTV programs. Now my husband is able to watch uncensored news and the truth of the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong. Now he finally understands that what the CCP has shown on TV all these years was all a big lie meant to deceive Chinese society.
In June 2015, when the movement to sue Jiang Zemin (the former Chinese dictator) began, my husband even took part in it and filed a suit against him for having initiated the persecution of Falun Dafa. When he saw the number of lawsuits against Jiang climb higher and higher, he was very proud. “This has our support as well,” he said.
I added, “This is what every practitioner, as well as all Chinese people with a conscience, are supposed to do.”
Standing up for Falun Gong
One time when we were waiting for the public transit to arrive, he saw a person tearing down a truth-clarification banner that read, “The world will bring Jiang Zemin to justice.”
My husband walked up to the person and shouted at him to stop. “Jiang Zemin is terrible!” he said. “He's done nothing good for us, and even our farmers growing watermelons and apples are taxed. And he’s the one who started the persecution of Falun Dafa. Falun Dafa is great! He should go to hell for his misdeeds!” The person simply nodded his head and left the banner alone.
Another time he ran into an old classmate at the hospital. He told him, “You are welcome to come to my home and learn Falun Dafa from my wife. It's truly amazing for its ability to improve health.”
When others complimented him for his having such a kind, young-looking wife, he would proudly tell them, “My wife is a Falun Dafa practitioner.”
My husband joined the ranks of the most fortunate people in the world: He is a Falun Dafa practitioner now. There is now harmony in our household as we diligently follow the universal principals of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Only by being diligent in Dafa cultivation can we ever hope to repay Teacher for his saving grace!
