(Minghui.org) A man injured by a prison guard was recently released on medical parole, but he was warned to not publicize his beatings or else he'd be sent back to prison.
Mr. Tang Peilin, in his 60s, was serving 7.5 years for distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. Like other practitioners imprisoned at Wangling Prison, he was subjected to various forms of abuse.
A guard slapped him in the face one day in 2015, when he tried to explain why the persecution is wrong. The guard used so much force that the right side of Mr. Tang's face became extremely swollen and kept oozing pus and blood. The prison doctor recommended surgery to correct his deformed face.
The prison authorities granted him medical parole, but refused to cover his medical bills. They also threatened to revoke his parole should he tell people about what happened to him in prison.
Mr. Tang had been tortured before while serving three years for following his faith in 2009. Guards at Jinshi Prison tied him up and beat him repeatedly. He lost four teeth as a result. They also denied him sleep.
