Trial of Practitioner in Guangdong Wins Brother's Sympathy

May 4, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Guangdong Province, China

(Minghui.org) Mr. Zhu Xiansheng from Meizhou City, Guangdong Province was tried on April 19 by Mei County Court for practicing Falun Gong and filing a criminal complaint against former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin.

There were no name plates in front of the judge, the prosecutor, and the court clerk. As a result, Mr. Zhu and his lawyer were not certain if their identities matched those listed on the indictment. The hearing was adjourned without a verdict.

Mr. Zhu's lawyer argued that no law in China criminalizes Falun Gong, and that it was within Mr. Zhu's rights to seek justice against Jiang Zemin for infringing upon his right to freedom of belief.

Mr. Zhu's wife and child were taken out the courtroom before the trial began, as officers claimed that they were witnesses.

Mr. Zhu's older brother had berated him, even the night before the trial, for “fighting against the Communist Party” in continuing to practice Falun Gong. Having heard the lawyer's defense arguments, however, he became emotional at the end of the hearing and shouted, “My brother is innocent. There's no evidence against him. You guys framed him. Release my brother immediately!”
