(Minghui.org) Two employees from the Dazhong Daily newspaper were arrested on June 27, 2016 in Jinan City for suing former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin. They were detained in the Keyuan Road Police Station for seven days and are now held in the Zhonggong Detention Center.

Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Wang Housheng and Mr. Zhang Jie filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin in 2015, using their real names. Officers from the Keyuan Road Police Station began to monitor them. Mr. Wang was ordered to sign out whenever he left his apartment.

The police did not state the real reason for the arrest on the detention records. Instead, they charged Mr. Wang and Mr. Zhang with “using a cult organization to undermine law enforcement,” a generic charge used to arrest and detain practitioners.

Mr. Zhang, 41, was arrested in the residential quarters of the Dazhong Daily. Mr. Zhang refused to go with the police, so several policemen dragged him to the police van. Mr. Zhang's wife was present and tried to stop the police.

Several policemen from the Keyuan Road Police Station waited for 59-year-old Mr. Wang at the place where he clocks in for work every day and arrested him.

The Dazhong Daily management did not protect their employees from the illegal arrest. Instead, they helped police to persecute them. Mr. Wang was suspended from work for eight years, starting in 2007.

Mr. Wang Twice Incarcerated at Forced Labor Camps

Mr. Wang has worked at Jinan Dazhong Newspaper Corporation since 1976. In 1996, he accidentally hit a Falun Gong practitioner while driving a motorcycle. The practitioner did not ask for any compensation and recovered in a short period of time. This amazed Mr. Wang and he decided to learn Falun Gong.

After Jiang Zemin started the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, Mr. Wang suffered tremendously for adhering to his belief and telling the public about the persecution of Falun Gong.

He was detained for 15 days in June 2000. He was held for three years in the Jinan City Forced Labor Camp for peacefully appealing for the right to practice Falun Gong in Beijing on October 1, 2000. He was incarcerated in the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp for one-and-a-half years, starting in December 2005.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the 610 Office on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
