“Some Dafa disciples participate in every Dafa event, and on the surface they seem to be doing well. From what others see, their cultivation seems fine, and they seem rather diligent. But nobody knows what attachments lie inside, or what might be preying on their minds; nobody knows what they might be stubbornly holding onto inside, or how difficult it is for them to overcome it, as these things are not displayed outwardly.” (“Fa Teaching on World Falun Dafa Day”)
Master's words described my cultivation state three-years ago, before I joined the RTC platform of making phone calls to China.
My attachments to fame and profit were haunting me, and my Fa study was not up to par. I was busy with many activities, always felt tired, and was filled with many negative thoughts. My cultivation state was not that of a diligent practitioner.
I then moved to a different city, which was far away from the tourist sites where I could meet Chinese tourists. Thus, a fellow practitioner recommended that I join the phone-calling platform.
This practitioner helped me let go of the fear that still governed my actions. I soon felt Master purify my body when I sent righteous thoughts, and I felt great energy envelope me.
I really felt what Master said:
“Only by doing the three things well can you purge that stuff and turn around all of the Party-culture-wrought thinking that you have—including fear.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2013 Western U. S. Fa Conference”)
Helping Others Equals Improving Myself
As I had experienced the old forces’ attempts to interfere with me, I decided to take a more active role in helping fellow practitioners who had fallen behind.
The organizer of this project asked me to help train new people how to use the platform. I valued the opportunity and accepted it immediately, and I helped many people attain the skills needed to be part of the platform. It was astounding that their cultivation realms were so high and their compassionate and pure hearts allowed me to find my cultivation gap.
An elderly practitioner from Taiwan joined and listened in for a while on our platform, but did not speak up. I encouraged her and told her that she had nothing to fear, as Dafa disciples we are all assisting Master in saving people.
When she decided to let go of her fear and make the calls, a police officer answered the phone. Yet her compassion melted his heart. She talked to the officer just like a mother talking to her child, and she told him to remember that Falun Dafa is good. He promised not to forget.
The phone call lasted only a few minutes, but I learned a lot. I realized that only if our minds are aligned with the Fa can we save people. It is Dafa and nothing else that saves people.
Through the process, I could also see my own shortcomings. I realized that it was fellow practitioners who were helping me, although on the surface it appeared that I helped them.
Master said:
“In other words, all the things you're doing, including the small and insignificant things, all of them are done for yourselves, and not a single thing is done for Dafa, nor is a single thing done for me, your master.” (“Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Western U.S. Fa Conference”)
Awakening the Conscience
A fellow practitioner had called a police chief in Changchun City, and I made a follow-up call because I wanted to ask him to release some Falun Dafa practitioners. The police chief did not admit that he had arrested those practitioners. The Minghui website, however, already reported that he had persecuted practitioners a few years ago. So it was important that he understood the wrongness of his actions.
After I got him on the line, he listened for quite a while, and I asked him to release a practitioner.
“How do you know that I was the one who arrested him?” he said. “I did not arrest him this time. You could ask the other police officers in my station. I was out of town. The practitioner is at home now, and you could check it out.”
“As you can tell, I did not want to scare you,” I said, “but I just wanted to let you see your true situation. I don’t want you to be a victim of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The CCP won’t tell you to stop your actions, and you will be its victim when it no longer needs you. Only Dafa disciples tell you the truth and point out a better path for you.”
He said he understood.
Before I ended the call, I told him how to protect practitioners and that he should avoid persecuting them from now on.
During the conversation with him, I felt that Dafa disciples’ wisdom, mighty powers, righteous thoughts, and responsibilities all came from the Fa.
Master said: “Cultivation depends on one’s own efforts, while the transformation of gong is done by one’s master. It is good enough if you have this wish.” (Zhuan Falun)
I realized that each phone call was no accident. The person on the other side must have made an arrangement with us before we descended to this world. They trusted that we would save them, no matter how deeply they got lost in this world. Thus, we should value each person who answers, and we need to try our best to awaken them.
Master Protects Practitioners
A rescue team was started and the organizer transferred me to that team in early 2014.
All team members had to cooperate on everything. We had to call the phone numbers, send messages, and produce all sorts of truth-clarification articles. Through our efforts, many persecutors came to understand the truth, stop their actions, and release the detained practitioners.
For instance, an elderly practitioner from Tianjin City was arrested. Our team obtained the police chief's phone number and took turns calling and sending messages to him. The elderly practitioner was released soon thereafter.
Ever since I joined the calling platform, I’ve found that I can let go of many of my attachments before I even realized I had them. I can feel Master always pushing me forward and protecting me.
