In front of the Chinese Embassy in Chisinau, a call for humanity was made by a group of Falun Dafa practitioners from Moldova. Marking 17 years since the persecution of Falun Dafa in China began, they remembered the practitioners who died at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

For Falun Dafa practitioners from Moldova, July 20 is the day on which humanity must reassess its values and, more importantly, make its voice heard to condemn the crimes of the CCP, which continues even today.

Holding portraits of victims of the persecution, Falun Dafa practitioners and supporters quietly commemorated 17 years of unjustified and inhuman torture.

Tatiana Chiriac, president of the Moldova Falun Dafa Association, said, “Falun Dafa, a cultivation practice for mind and body, was made public for the first time in China in 1992. The movement grew, and the total number of practitioners reached approximately 100 million throughout China by the late 1990s – which meant that there were more supporters of Falun Gong than members of the Communist Party. This angered the former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin, who ordered the practice to be eradicated.

“Even though international organizations have condemned the crimes of the persecution of Falun Gong, it continues to this day,” she added. This has motivated the practitioners in Moldova to continue to protest in front of the Chinese Embassy in Chisinau.

“The right to life is the most precious,” said Dumitru Roman, a participant at the protest. “We ask not only that the persecution of Falun Dafa in China end, but also that practitioners illegally incarcerated are released immediately.”

Another participant, Oxana Draguta, commented, “Here in Moldova, even though the Chinese Embassy is trying to interfere with the Falun Dafa Association when we organize different activities, I still feel free and safe. But my counterparts in China have to practice secretly, because otherwise they risk arrest. They are taken to prisons and tortured ...in terrible ways.”

Representatives of the Falun Dafa Association in Moldova urged the Chinese and Moldovan authorities to consider their actions, reminding them that, “People involved in committing crimes of this nature have paid for their actions. History has shown us that economic interests never prevail, and crimes against humanity do not remain hidden for long.”
