Shandong Prison’s New Torture Method: Dangling Coke Can

Sept. 10, 2016 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Shandong Province

(Minghui.org) Shandong Province Prison has been using a new torture method on Falun Gong practitioners since 2014. These prisoners of conscience were targeted because they refuse to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

Li Wei, head of Division 11, devised this new method dubbed “dangling coke can.” The victim is tied to a chair, which is then tilted at a 45-degree angle and fastened to a railing. A coke can hung by a rope or rings is next dangled at such a height that it rests right on the neck of the victim.

According to inmates who operated this torture, no one could tolerate it for more than 30 minutes, as the victim would soon feel the weight of the coke can on his neck and struggle to breathe.

The tortured practitioner is usually untied and allowed a bit of break after a while. The relief is only temporary, though, as he’d soon be put up for the torture again.

Mr. Zhang Hongjin was once made to go through this torture on and off for three straight days. Mr. He Xunmin, Mr. Tang Peiwu, and Mr. Guo Zhiqiang are also known to have suffered this torture.
