(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners in China have been suppressed for their belief for 17 years. Many people believed the government propaganda in the beginning and turned hostile toward practitioners. Over the years, a growing number, including police, have come to learn the facts and support Falun Gong.
My name is Du Baoguo. I was a police officer in Hebei Province. I am 56 years old. I had to retire because I became to unhealthy to take care of myself. For my daily needs, I rely on a caregiver.
I am in a wheelchair, and my caregiver took me outside for some sunshine. I met a lady who practices Falun Gong. She asked me why I was in a wheelchair at such a young age.
When she learned I was a police officer, she told me that Falun Gong practitioners are good people and that the former head of the Chinese Communist Party, Jiang Zemin, launched the persecution of Falun Gong and a propaganda campaign. Many people who followed Jiang Zemin and persecuted practitoners are now receiving karmic retribution. For example, Zhou Yongkang, China's former security czar, has been sent to prison.
As I listened to her more, I began to awaken. Falun Gong practitioners are good people. I felt cheated by the government's propaganda about Falun Gong. I had beaten three practitioners very badly. I believe my health problems are retribution for my actions. I felt deep regret and began to weep.
This kind lady told me Falun Gong is compassionate. As long as I know that Falun Gong is good and choose to break away from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), I will be blessed. I asked her to help me quit the CCP with my real name.
Now, I often repeat, "Falun Gong is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!" I also use my own experience to tell people that Falun Gong is good and not to participate in persecuting Falun Gong even in the slightest way. I want everyone to have a good future.
Someone reported me to the police because I was out telling people about Falun Gong and the persecution.
The police chased me while I was on my motorcycle. I came to a village and drove into a yard. No one was there, so I parked my motorcycle. The home owner saw me enter his yard and came out to see what was happening.
I told him, "I am a Falun Gong practitioner. I am a good person. I was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong, and now the police are chasing me!"
"I know some Falun Gong practitioners in the village," he replied. "Come in. We won't turn you in."
I did not want him to get in any trouble, so after I sat in his house for awhile, I got up to leave. The home owner told me about another way out of the village, and I arrived home safely.
I later went back to give him a thank you gift. He and his wife told me that the police did come to their house looking for me shortly after I left. The police entered their yard, and the man asked them what they were looking for. An officer lied and said they were looking for a thief.
The man said he asked the officers more questions. They could not answer, and so he said, "You have no business being here. You should leave." The two policemen looked embarrassed. The man then added, "There was someone here, but he is now gone. You can come take a look."
The police entered his home. When they did not see anyone, they asked, "Which way did he go?" The man pointed in the wrong direction.
The man said to me, "Jiang Zemin persecuted Falun Gong practitioners, and he did not do anything good for the people."
"Indeed," I said. "Those policemen are pitiable. They have been poisoned by government propaganda and are being used as a tool."
