(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 19 cities or counties in 10 provinces. According to this report, 23 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 33 were illegally arrested.

1. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Thirteen Practitioners Detained

Ms. Han Zhongxiang of Zhifu District, 72, was arrested by officers from the Laishan District Police Department on the morning of September 15, 2017. Police ransacked her home and confiscated cash and other personal items. Practitioners arrested on the same day were Ms. Xiao Shuxian, Ms. Shao Shuxian, Ms. Zhao Shuyu, Ms. Ma Yuzhen, Mr. Pan Yongqing, Ms. Zhang Shuying, Mr. Luan Jingyao, Ms. Li Aiyu, Ms. Pan Yanyan, Ms. Sun Mingqiu, Ms. Zhang Huiying, and Mr. Zou Baisong. They were held at Yantai City No.1 Detention Center.

2. [Chongqing] Mr. Zhu Defu Arrested

Mr. Zhu Defu of Nanan District was arrested on the morning of September 17, 2017 for talking to others about the persecution of Falun Gong. His whereabouts are unknown. At noon, police broke into the home of his daughter, Ms. Zhu Meiying, and searched the place. Ms. Zhu, 48, escaped.

3. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Xiong Cuihuan Detained for 15 Days

Ms. Xiong Cuihuan of Gaoxin District was arrested on August 27, 2017 by officer Liu Jin from the Gaoxin District Domestic Security Division, agents from the Town and Township Security Office and the 610 Office, and officers from the Maqiu Police Station. They searched her home and confiscated Falun Gong books and materials. Ms. Xiong was detained for 15 days at Erqibeilu Detention Center.

4. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Na Shuchun and Ms. Wang Hong Arrested

Ms. Na Shuchun of Beijingzi Town, 79, was arrested by four officers from the Majiadian Town Police Station on the morning of September 14, 2017 when she was talking to others about the persecution of Falun Gong in the Majiadian Town Flee Market. Ms. Wang Hong was arrested at the same time. Police took their pictures, and forced them to sign the police records. Police also took blood samples and fingerprints from Ms. Na before releasing them.

5. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Bai Sumei Arrested

Ms. Bai Sumei, 66, was arrested by officers from the Shuangshan Police Station on September 4, 2017 when she was telling others about the persecution of Falun Gong. The officers confiscated her Falun Gong books, cell phone, computer, cash, and other personal items.

6. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Fang Caixia Imprisoned

Ms. Fang Caixia of Ganjingzi District, 49, was arrested on June 28, 2017 and sentenced to four years in prison by Ganjingzi Court. Dalian City Middle Court denied her appeal without a hearing. She was sent to Liaoning Women's Prison on September 2, 2017.

7. [Xinbin County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Yanjie Arrested

Ms. Liu Yanjie was arrested on September 18, 2017.

8. [Qixia City, Shandong Province] Ms. Song Xuehao Arrested

Ms. Song Xuehao of Sikou Town, Qixia City, Yantai City was arrested by officers from the Sikou Town Police Station on the morning of September 15, 2017. Her home was ransacked, and her Falun Gong books and materials were confiscated. She was released that afternoon because she failed the detention center entry physical exam.

That morning, officers from the Sikou Town Police Station searched the home of Mr. Liu Zhongzhi in Liujia Village and confiscated all of his Falun Gong books.

9. [Gongqing City, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Wang Tianzhen Arrested

Mr. Wang Tianzhen, in his 60s, took a train to his home town, Jinjiang City, Fujian Province on August 31, 2017. He was arrested in Jinjiang City. His whereabouts are unknown.

10. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Liu Qingjie and Mr. Li Guojun Detained

Mr. Liu Qingjie and Mr. Li Guojun was arrested by officers from the Nanguan District Police Department on the evening of September 13, 2017. Mr. Liu is incarcerated at the Shuangyang No. 3 Detention Center. Mr. Li is being held in a hospital and details are unknown.

11. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Two Practitioners Detained

Linghai City practitioners, Ms. Zhang Fengxia’s daughter and Mr. Du Wenguo, were arrested by officers from the Yi County Police Department on the morning of September 18, 2017. The officers ransacked their homes and confiscated printers, computers, and other personal items. They are held at the Jinzhou Detention Center.

12. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Zhilan Detained for 15 Days

Ms. Liu Zhilan from Xiawangjia Village, Zhuqiao Town, Laizhou City was arrested by officers from the Zhuqiao Police Station on September 16, 2017 when she was talking to others about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was subjected to 15 days detention and held at the Laizhou Detention Center.

13. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Junying Detained

Ms. Zhang Junying was arrested on September 1, 2017 when she was talking to others about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was taken to the Xinhualu Police Station, and was then held for 14 days at the Jinnanlu Drug Rehab Center. She is incarcerated in the Yaojia Detention Center.

14. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhu Xinhe Detained

Mr. Zhu Xinhe from Hanqiao Village, Luocheng Neighborhood, Shouguang City was arrested on September 7, 2017. He is held at a detention center.

15. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Mr. Cao Dong Arrested

Mr. Cao Dong of Gaoqing County was arrested on September 16, 2017. His home was searched, and his Falun Gong materials were confiscated.

16. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Ding Guoqin Detained

Ms. Ding Guoqin was arrested. She is being held at the Naxi Detention Center.

17. [Huanghua City, Hebei Province] Mr. Cao Xilin Arrested

Mr. Cao Xilin from Dajiaxiang Village, Jiucheng Town, Huanghua City, was arrested by officers from the Yangerzhuang Police Station on September 8, 2017 when he was talking to others about the persecution of Falun Gong in Yangerzhuang Flea Market. His computer, printer, Falun Gong books, and other personal items were confiscated. He was released after being held at a police station for eight hours.

18. [Xian City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Geng Yanping Detained

Ms. Geng Yanping from Xian City was arrested in mid-August, 2017. She is being held at the Lianhu District Detention Center.

19. [Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Li Shuangfeng Arrested

Ms. Li Shuangfeng was arrested by officers from the Ashihe Police Station on September 13, 2017.

20. [Beijing] Four Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Liu Jinxia, Ms. Zhang Migui, Ms. Zhang Peizhi, and Ms. Liu Qin were arrested on the morning of September 14, 2017, for talking to others about the persecution of Falun Gong. Their homes were ransacked. Ms. Zhang Peizhi and Ms. Liu Qi were released. The other two are being held at the Chaoyang Police Department.

21. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Xiu Changhong Arrested

Ms. Xiu Changhong was arrested by plainclothes officers on September 12, 2017, for distributing Falun Gong fliers. She was taken to the Xiguangchang Police Station, then to her home. After the place was searched, she was taken back to the police station for interrogation. She was finally released.

22. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Nineteen Practitioners Arrested

Nineteen practitioners were arrested by officers from the Yilan County Police Department on the afternoon of August 31, 2017. Fifteen of them are in detention. They are Mr. Chen Jizhong, Mr. Tian Hongwei, Mr. Tian Xiaolong, Mr. Tang Hongfei, Mr. Liu Limin, Mr. Wang Yunjie, Mr. Li You, Mr. Li Tingkun, Ms. Zhang Jiuhui, Ms. Deng Shumei, Ms. Zhou Yan, Ms. Bu Baoling, Ms. Chong Xiuxian, Ms. Fu Guihua, and Ms. Si Fenglan. The four who were released are Ms. Qu, Ms. Si Fengxiang, M. Zhao Guiqin, and Ms. Shi Rongxian.

23. [Chongqing] Ms. Lin Zhongying Detained

Ms. Lin Zhongying of Banan District was arrested on September 17, 2017, by officers from the Sha District Domestic Security Division, the Chongqing Domestic Security Division, and the Yupeilu Police Station. Her home was searched. She was taken to the Yupeilu Police Station.

24. [Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Wang Meifen Detained for 15 Days

Ms. Wang Meifen from the Yinzhou District was arrested on September 2, 2017, for distributing Falun Gong fliers. She was subjected to 15 days administrative detention.

25. [Beijing] Mr. Zhang Jiuhai and Ms. Yu Fulan Tried

Pinggu District Court held two back-to-back hearings in the trials of Mr. Zhang Jiuhai and Ms. Yu Fulan. Judge Sun Guoli presided over both hearings.

Mr. Zhang was arrested on May 8, 2017, and Ms. Yu was seized two days later. Mr. Zhang appeared in court first, at 9:30 a.m. on September 19. His lawyer requested that Mr. Zhang's handcuffs be removed, but judge Sun refused to allow it. The lawyer pointed out that Sun was violating the law and asked the hearing to be halted. Sun declined to do so and also denied the lawyer's request that he be recused from the trial.

The lawyer entered a not guilty plea for Mr. Zhang. Prosecutor Liao Lu recommended a 6 to 7-year prison sentence. Sun adjourned the session without issuing a verdict.

Ms. Yu was brought to court at 11:30 a.m. when Mr. Zhang's hearing ended. Ms. Yu's daughter testified in her defense, and her lawyer also argued that his client broke no law by practicing Falun Gong.

Prosecutor Liao recommended that Ms. Yu be sentenced from six months to one year. Judge Sun ended the session without issuing a verdict.
