Police Arrest Falun Gong Practitioner First, Then Fabricate Evidence to Charge Him

Oct. 3, 2017 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) After the police in Hebei Province arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Xianghui, they found themselves without a valid reason to press charges against him.

Mr. Wang was arrested on June 16, 2017, for writing letters to top provincial officials detailing his 11 years in prison and unemployment due to the persecution of Falun Gong. In the letters, he demanded compensation from the state and public information regarding the 610 Office, an extralegal organization that specializes in the persecution of Falun Gong.

When they found out about these letters, the 610 Office ordered the police to arrest Mr. Wang, but writing letters to government officials isn't a crime the procuratorate can use to charge someone.

After going through Mr. Wang's computers confiscated from his home, the police found letters he wrote to his former employers, asking to return to work.

The police contacted the directors of the Li County Electric Power Bureau, where Mr. Wang used to work, and told them to lie. Three directors, Liu Xinle, Zhang Zhanying, and Wei Yutao, agreed and testified that Mr. Wang had spread information about Falun Gong and handed them pamphlets.

The police submitted Mr. Wang's case with the standard charge used to persecute Falun Gong practitioners: “using a cult organization to undermine law enforcement.” The procuratorate then approved Mr. Wang's arrest.

Mr. Wang is being held in the Li County Detention Center. It was reported that the procuratorate recently returned the case to the police, asking for more “evidence.”

His Family Has Suffered for 18 Years

Mr. Wang and his family started to practice Falun Gong in 1996 in order to improve their health. They were relentlessly persecuted after the communist regime banned the practice in 1999.

Both of Mr. Wang's grandparents were so petrified that they passed away as a result of the mental and emotional distress. His wife, who was a police officer, divorced him due to pressure at work.

Mr. Wang was fired from his job and sentenced to 11 years in prison for tapping into the local cable TV network to broadcast programs about Falun Gong in 2002.

His father, Mr. Wang Pingjun, was sent to a forced labor camp twice, fired from his job, and fined heavily. His mother, Ms. Liu Guipu, was detained for more than seven months. She became paralyzed as a result of the stress. Bedridden for five years, she passed away on June 11, 2013, only five days before Mr. Wang was arrested.
