Hebei Woman Imprisoned for Exposing Persecution of Falun Gong

Dec. 22, 2017 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) A 71-year-old woman in Tangshan City was sentenced to two years in prison for raising awareness of the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Ms. Sun Yulan is now appealing her case to Tangshan Intermediate Court.

Ms. Sun was first arrested in 2014 after being reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong. Though she was soon released on bail, officers from Qianying Police Station kept harassing her at home. She left home to avoid further harassment.

The police put her on the wanted list and deceived her son into signing her arrest warrant.

Ms. Sun was at her new residence on January 10, 2017, when several agents showed up to say they needed to fix her gas pipe. She opened the door, only to be arrested. She is currently held at Tangshan First Detention Center.

Ms. Sun’s family suspects that police tracked her down after she used her ID to apply for a free bus pass for seniors.

Ms. Sun was sentenced to prison by Fengnan District Court in November.
