One Thought Makes the Difference Between Being Human and Being Divine

Feb. 8, 2017 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) Many of our local practitioners recently suffered from serious illness karma. Some have passed away, and several still struggle. I want to share my experience of how I once conquered illness karma, hoping that it will help practitioners in similar situations.

One summer I hit a pile of bricks with my scooter. My big toe was almost severed, and it bled profusely. A practitioner suggested that I get it stitched, but not to get a tetanus injection. At the hospital, the doctor recommended that I receive a tetanus vaccine, but I firmly declined.

I went home, studied the Fa and sent righteous thoughts. To avoid infection, I stayed away from certain foods and kept the wound dry. I was confident that the wound would heal soon.

I went back to the hospital a few days later and found out that the wound had festered and it smelled awful. The doctor said that this was because I refused to get the vaccine and that I might lose my limb as a result. He prescribed antibiotics for me.

It was like a hard blow to my head. I looked within and remembered what Master said,

“If you do not want to change your human state and rationally rise to a true understanding of Dafa, you will miss the opportunity. If you do not change the human logic that you, as an ordinary human, have formed deep in your bones over thousands of years, you will be unable to break away from this superficial human shell and reach Consummation. You cannot always count on me to eliminate karma for you while you fail to truly progress in comprehending the Fa and rise above human understandings and notions. Your ways of thinking, your understanding, and your appreciation towards me and Dafa are the product of ordinary human thinking.” (“Cautionary Advice” from Essentials for Further Advancement)

I finally understood that eating when hungry, sleeping when sleepy, and taking medication when sick are human notions.

Although I did not resort to medication, I tried to achieve what the medicine could do, which is keeping the wound dry to avoid an infection. I remember a practitioner once used food therapy to replace medication when combating illness karma. Like me, he believed that it was an illness.

I bit the bullet and no longer used any gauze and took a shower without protecting the wound.

Then, I looked within and found that the attachment of lust and desire emerged after the accident. I recalled that I once succumbed to lust and desire. Therefore, I confessed it to other practitioners. Gradually the festered flesh fell off and the wound began to heal.

I should have faced the tribulation with the righteous thoughts that Dafa has given me, instead of human notions. It is that one thought that makes all the difference between being a human and being divine.

Master said,

“Calmly reflect on the attachments you haveRemove your human thoughtsand evil will naturally die out.” (“Don't be Sad” from Hong Yin Vol. II)
