A Mischief-Maker Becomes a Good Man

March 6, 2017 |   By a Falun Gong practitioner in Sichuan Province, China

(Minghui.org) Before I started practicing Falun Gong in 1998, my husband was a mischief-maker. He was able to eat out for free in our community, and no one dared complain because they were afraid of him. Yet, he was obedient to me, gentle and considerate.

We had a disagreement one summer evening after we married. I started walking toward my parents' home. Three young men riding bicycles came in the opposite direction and intentionally headed toward me when they passed. I was scared and jumped out of their way.

I heard a bike falling to the ground. “How dare you kick my bike?” one young man said. I heard my husband's stern voice say, “Boy, it was me!” I rushed forward, surprised to see the three men apologizing to my husband. “Sorry, we didn't know you did it,” one of the men said.

I started practicing Falun Gong in 1998. I followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in my manner of speaking and behavior, and I explained my understandings to my husband. Seeing how my behavior and even my appearance had changed, he believed that Falun Dafa is good and supported my practice.

He read a Falun Gong flyer in a teashop one day. His friend asked him, “You are so bold to read a Falun Gong flyer?” My husband said, “What's to fear? Everything described on the flyer is truthful and there are no advisements. Take a look.” He handed the flyer to his friend.

I received a few fake 100 yuan bills in my shop in 2004. I asked my husband what to do with them. Before I practiced Falun Gong, he would have taken the fake bills to use while gambling with cards. This time he looked at the fake bills carefully with the aid of an ultraviolet light.

He said to me, “The bills appear so close to real ones it is hard to tell the difference. I am a family member of a Falun Gong practitioner now. I cannot use them while gambling as that is a wrong deed.” He burned the fake bills with a lighter.

My leg once had a pus-filled boil, and the surrounding skin was dark purple. The pus would wet paper on the ground when I practiced the Falun Gong exercises. My husband said, “Apply some medicine if you can't endure anymore.”

I said, smiling, “Don't worry, my Master takes care of me.” I kept reading Dafa books and practicing the exercises, and recovered completely within a week.

My husband said emotionally, “It is marvelous. I asked a doctor, and he said the boil would spread and be dangerous. You didn't take or apply any medicine, but you recovered faster than people who go to the hospital. I admire that you have support from your Master.” I advised him, “Let's practice Dafa together.”

He said with a sigh, “I was ignorant before and committed many wrong deeds. My friends said I have changed completely. They also said that I am so lucky to have a good wife. I cannot take the hardships one must endure in practicing. You practice it well. I support you.”

My husband has not practiced Falun Gong, but he understands and supports Falun Gong. He strives to be a good person. He survived car crashes in 2011 and 2013.

Master said,

“We have also said that if every one of us cultivates his inner self, examines his own xinxing to look for the causes of wrongdoing so as to do better next time, and considers others first when taking any action, human society will become better and morality will again rise. The spiritual civilization would also become better, and so would public security. Perhaps there would not be any police. No one would need to be governed, as everyone would discipline himself or herself and search their inner self. Wouldn’t you say this would be great? You know that laws are becoming more comprehensive and refined. Yet why are there people who still do bad deeds? Why don’t they comply with the laws? It is because you cannot govern their hearts. When they are not seen, they will still do bad deeds. If everyone cultivates the inner self, it will be totally different. There will be no need for you to ensure justice.” (from “Lecture Nine” in Zhuan Falun)
