Chongqing Woman Arrested for Suing Jiang, Abused in Detention

March 7, 2017 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Chongqing, China

(Minghui.org) A Chongqing resident has remained in detention since October 13, 2015, four months after she filed a criminal complaint against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin.

Twice in the past Ms. Gao Yunxia was sentenced to prison, for a total of 8.5 years, because she refused to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

She submitted a complaint against Jiang in June 2015, accusing him of ordering the persecution of Falun Gong based on no legal grounds. The police arrested her months later in retaliation.

The 53-year-old has been subjected to various forms of abuse since the day of her arrest. Most recently, around December 2016, director Wang Xizhong of Yubei District Detention Center gave orders that her upper body be tied up tightly, causing her to experience difficulty breathing, eating, and sleeping.

Ms. Gao went on a hunger strike in protest. The guards promised to untie her if she agreed to eat. She fell victim to their deceit, only to be tied up again after she ate a few bites. She resumed her hunger strike and didn’t stop until the guards untied her a week later.

Wang Xizhong’s cell phone is +86-13709416577.
