(Minghui.org) After Falun Gong practitioners are illegally arrested and detained in China, we may choose to hire lawyers to defend them. There are several things we should consider when interacting with the lawyers.
First is the safety of the lawyers. I have seen pictures published on Minghui of lawyers meeting with detained practitioners. When practitioners in my local area planned to do the same thing, the lawyers protested, complaining that we did not consider their safety. Since the persecution still continues in China and some lawyers have even been detained for defending practitioners, I think we should make it a point to pay attention to their safety.
Similarly, do we include a lawyer's name in articles about the legal proceedings? After we win a case, the lawyers involved often become famous and practitioners in many areas want to hire them. In reality, many factors contribute to a successful outcome, especially the righteous thoughts of the detained practitioners and whether practitioners in that region collaborate well.
Of course, lawyers are also important. But generally speaking, the direction of the case and the final outcome depend on the practitioners involved. We therefore should not rely on lawyers, and there is no need to include their names in articles, except in special circumstances.
The second factor to consider is the cultivation of our speech. A relatively new lawyer who had only handled a few cases involving detained practitioners was very interested in learning Falun Gong and asked the practitioners who interacted with him for their contact information.
Whatever his true intentions, we know from experience that most lawyers understand the way the Chinese Communist Party works and do not ask for our personal information to protect our safety. We should cultivate our speech when communicating with lawyers and not pass along unnecessary information, especially when it involves practitioners not related to the case or the overall situation of practitioners in the region. Practitioners are usually agreeable, but we should not cause losses unnecessarily.
Finally, instead of relying on lawyers so much, we should remember that we are Falun Dafa practitioners. At this human level, we are paying the lawyers, so some practitioners demand too much from them. This may lead to undesirable consequences. I think that, whenever we interact with people, we should keep in mind that we are Falun Dafa practitioners. That is, from the way we do things and the way we talk, the lawyers should be able to see the goodness of Falun Gong. We should leave them with a good impression.

I hope we can all do better.
