(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 5 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 12 were illegally arrested.

1. [Beijing] Ms. Zhong Xiuqing Given a Two-and-a-Half-Year Prison Term

Ms. Zhong Xiuqing from Nankou Town in the Changping District was arrested at home by officers from the Changping District Court on the afternoon of February 21, 2017. She was sentenced to two and a half years in prison the following day. She is held in the Women's Prison.

2. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Jianfeng and Wife Ms. Zhang Xiaoyan Arrested

Mr. Wang Jianfeng and his wife Ms. Zhang Xiaoyan were arrested at home by officers from the Nancheng Police Station on the evening of August 3, 2017, and taken to the police station. Mr. Wang was released. Ms. Zhang was taken to the Nanshan Detention Center to serve 10 days.

3. [Tonghua County, Jilin Province] Ms. Pang Jinping Arrested

Ms. Pang Jinping was arrested by Kuaidamao Police Station officers on the afternoon of August 2, 2017. She was taken to the station but released that evening after she failed the physical exam.

4. [Jieshou City, Anhui Province] Ms. Chen Sanling Detained

Ms. Chen Sanling from Huxiaozhuang, Hutai Administrative Village, Wangji Town, has been missing for several months. It was reported recently that she was in the Fuyang City Detention Center.

5. [Jining City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Yu Placed in Criminal Detention

Mr. Zhang Yu was arrested by officers from the Fuqiao Police Station on July 29, 2017, for distributing software that circumvents Internet censorship. The officers ransacked his and his mother's homes that afternoon. They confiscated 24 Falun Gong books, printed materials, and software DVDs. Mr. Zhang was placed in criminal detention at the Jining City Detention Center.

6. [Fenxi County, Shanxi Province] Ms. Yao Lingjuan and Ms. He Ying Detained

Ms. Yao Lingjuan and Ms. He Ying were arrested and their homes were ransacked by Yong'an Town Police Station officers on the morning of August 5, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong in Diantou Village. Both practitioners are now in the Fenxi County Detention Center.

Ms. Feng Wei from Gushan Town was arrested at home by officers from the Gushan Town Police Station on the evening of August 3, 2017. She was handcuffed.

Ms. Zhang Limei and Mr. Zheng Guocheng were arrested.

9. [Beijing] Ms. Zhao Jin'ai Arrested

Ms. Zhao Jin'ai from Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, was arrested and taken to the Niujie Police Station in the Xicheng District for distributing Falun Gong materials in a residential community on July 24, 2017. Officers from the Xicheng District Domestic Security Division and the local police station ransacked her home. Ms. Zhao was taken to the Xicheng District Detention Center on July 25. She was released that evening because of high blood pressure.

10. [Xiantao City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Three practitioners, one with the last name Tu, were arrested on August 3, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong in a food market. One elderly female practitioner was released because of her age. The other two remain in custody.

11. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wen Huimei Detained

Officers from the Gutianjie Police Station and the Qiaokou District Domestic Security Division and personnel from the Comprehensive Management Office broke into Ms. Wen Huimei's home on the morning of July 11, 2017. They ransacked it and confiscated a computer, a DVD burner, and a printer. Ms. Wen has been held in the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center.

12. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhang Naijun Officially Arrested

Mr. Zhang Naijun was arrested by Tang Yongjia and Wang Zhibin from the Xingsheng Police Station in the Tiexi District on April 17, 2017, for putting up Falun Gong materials in the Tiexi District. His case was filed by Liu Guohong, head of the Legal Division, on April 17. Mr. Zhang was detained on April 18, 2017. He was officially placed under arrest on May 2.

Ms. Li Baihui was arrested at home by officers from the Wohongqiao Police Station on the morning of August 6, 2017. The officers went there to arrest her mother, who was not at home, so they arrested Ms. Li instead. She has now returned home.
