Elderly Shenyang Practitioner Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

(Minghui.org) 68-year-old Mr. Liu Defu from Shenyang City was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan for standing up for his belief in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline persecuted by the communist regime since 1999.

With surveillance cameras, the Shenyang City 610 Office and the local Political and Legal Affairs Committee had recorded a group of people putting up Falun Gong posters in Shenhe District. They ordered officers from the Shenhe District Domestic Security Division, Zhujianlu Police Station and Danan Police Station to arrest Mr. Liu, his wife and seven other practitioners on November 14, 2016.

The police ransacked Mr. Liu's home, confiscated his computer and printer, and took him to the Shenhe Detention Center.

The procuratorate rejected the case against Mr. Liu and five other practitioners on May 5, 2017. However, the domestic security division resubmitted the case.

Mr. Liu developed serious symptoms of a stroke, heart ischemia, and high blood pressure. He was finally admitted to the Shenyang 242 Prison Hospital after being treated there several times.

Shenhe District Court tried Mr. Liu in the Shenyang 242 Prison Hospital for two hours on July 13. 2017. He was sentenced to a three-year prison term a month later.
