Police Beat and Arrest 60+ Year-Old Husband when Searching Practitioner's Home

Sept. 7, 2017 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Shaanxi Province, China

(Minghui.org) Police officers Dou Haibin and Dong Xin, from the Chengguan Police Station of the Liquan County Police Department in Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, went to Zhao Ya's home to harass her for the third time on August 21, 2017.

Ms. Zhao's husband was home alone when the police came. He asked the officers to show their identification (ID) cards and search warrant.

“My uniform is my ID,” one of them answered.

They searched each room and pulled down an embroidery with the words, “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” on it from a wall.

When Ms. Zhao's husband locked their daughter's room, one officer ran over and stopped him. The other hurried over, and the two officers threw him to the floor and pulled his arms behind his back. One officer pressed his leg against his neck for over 20 minutes, making it difficult for him to breathe.

When the villagers saw what happened, they came to stop the police. They all started scolding the police.

One said, “It's against the law to hit people. Let him go.”Another said, “Why are you standing on him? The way you are treating him is barbaric.”One man yelled, “He is over 60 years old and has high blood pressure.”Other villagers said, “Let's record this mistreatment and upload it to the Internet.”

One of the officers told the villagers, “This embroidery with Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is evidence. What's happening here is none of your business.”

He made a phone call and six more officers arrived. Eight police officers took Ms. Zhao’s husband to the police station.

Ms. Zhao’s husband refused to cooperate with the police, and said to the chief officer at the station, “I did not do anything illegal. Your people beat me and injured my arms, legs, hands, and face. Are you planning to arrest me or kill me?”

The chief officer apologized. Ms. Zhao’s husband said, “Your people grabbed the embroidery with Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance on it, along with cash and a notebook. Can you tell me which of these words is bad?”

The chief officer had no response and released Ms. Zhao’s husband.
