Four Elderly Practitioners in Sichuan Province Sentenced to Prison

(Minghui.org) Four elderly Falun Gong practitioners in their seventies were sentenced to prison in Yaan City, Sichuan Province on August 3, 2016.

The four practitioners and their sentences are as follows: Ms. Gan Yulian, 74 years old, sentenced to three years in prison, with four-and-a-half years on probation; Mr. Hu Jiaqi, 76 years old, sentenced to three years in prison, with four years probation; Ms. Wang Guangying, 78 years old, sentenced to three years, with three years probation; and Ms. Huang Xiuhua, 73 years old, sentenced to three years, with three years probation.

The four practitioners were arrested on August 26, 2015. Mr. Hu, Ms. Huang, and Ms. Gan were taken to Duoying Detention Center that night. Their cases were later turned over to the Procuratorate.

Ms. Wang was released on the day of the arrest. However, three days later she was taken to the Duoying Detention Center and detained for a week.

Ms. Huang was released on September 30, 2015 on bail while awaiting trial. Ms. Gan and Mr. Hu had symptoms of high blood pressure. They were released on bail on March 17, 2016.

The Yucheng District 610 Office in Yaan City formed a “Correction Unit” and hired people to monitor the four practitioners. The four were forced to write reports every month. The police also installed surveillance devices in Ms. Gan's and Ms. Wang's homes.

Six representatives from the neighborhood committee, the local police station and the 610 Office went to Ms. Gan’s home and harassed her on May 19, 2017.
