(Minghui.org) Two Falun Gong practitioners from Meizhou City, Guangdong Province were sentenced to prison recently. Ms. Chen Qingfang was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison and taken to Guangdong Provincial Women's Prison. Ms. Chen Lifang was sentenced to four years in prison, with two years of probation. She was also fined 5,000 yuan.
Ms. Chen Qingfang Arrested for Passing Note to Business Owner
Ms. Chen Qingfang is nearly fifty years old. She was arrested for passing a note about Falun Gong to the owner of a butcher shop at a wholesale market in Chengbei Town, Meijiang District on the morning of March 18, 2017.
She was taken to Yuemei Detention Center in the Meijiang District, where she was held for two weeks, and then transferred to Qingyang Detention Center on the afternoon of March 21. She was held there until she was moved to the prison after being sentenced.
Meijiang District Court tried Ms. Chen Qingfang and other practitioners on the morning of July 19. No decision was made during the trial. Her family received notification of her sentencing on December 20, 2017.
Ms. Chen Lifang Arrested for Telling People about Falun Gong
Ms. Chen Lifang is an older practitioner in Chengqu District, Meizhou. She was arrested on June 3, 2016, for clarifying the facts about Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home and seized a copy of the book Zhuan Falun, six music players, and about 2,000 yuan worth of bills with Falun Gong information written on them. She was released on bail that night.
Ms. Chen was called to the local police station months later. She signed a document without knowing its content on May 23, 2017. She went to Meijiang District Procuratorate on June 5, accompanied by her son and daughter-in-law. Meijiang District Court had planned to try her on July 13. The details about the trial were under investigation.
It was recently learned that she was sentenced to four years of imprisonment with two years of probation.
