Twice Imprisoned, Shandong Woman Again Faces Trial for Her Faith

(Minghui.org) A Pingdu City resident is facing prosecution again for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

Ms. Wang Xiyu, in her late 60s, was last arrested on November 24, 2017, and is currently held at Pudong Detention Center.

Guo Yucheng, head of the local 610 Office, an extralegal agency tasked by the central Communist Party leadership with eradicating Falun Gong, told her son-in-law, “Your mother-in-law will probably be sentenced to prison again, given her history.”

Ms. Wang had been twice imprisoned in the past–she was sentenced to five years in 2001 and three and a half years in 2012. Between her two imprisonments, she served two years of forced labor between 2007 and 2009.

Despite her lengthy incarceration, Ms. Wang kept practicing Falun Gong after each release. She had a hemorrhage during childbirth and suffered severe complications years ago. She credits Falun Gong for returning her to health, and she often said to people, “Falun Gong is so good! It gave me a second life!”

The local police tried to force Ms. Wang to give them her house key following her latest arrest. She refused, and they scaled her fence and broke in, terrifying her 97-year-old father.

Her lawyer visited her on November 29, and she told him to tell her three brothers not to worry about her and to take care of their elderly father while she was in custody.

Ms. Wang’s case was forwarded to Pingdu City Court on January 19, 2018. She now faces trial for her faith.
