(Minghui.org) I was once held in the local county detention center because I broke the law. Fortunately, I met Falun Dafa practitioners in there, and they helped me to begin practicing. Since then I have experienced many miracles.
Through cultivating in Falun Dafa, my moral standards have improved, and I was also inspired to return home, where I hadn't been for 19 years.
Obtaining Dafa
While I was detained, I noticed that practitioners made use of every opportunity to tell people about Falun Gong and about the persecution, and they were very kind to everyone. They gave me food and clothes, even though I still didn't believe what they were telling me.
One day, I hurt all over. A practitioner who was a professor said to me, “Perhaps you should read my teacher's articles that I copied by hand. It could make you better if you have a predestined relationship.”
I felt something rotating on my head, hands, and chest after I read the articles. I asked the professor what was going on. She held me and said with tears, “It is a rotating Falun. You really have a predestined relationship with Dafa.”
She told me about the beauty of Dafa later on. I just felt comfortable as I listened to her and the pain disappeared without my even realizing it.
I decided to start practicing Falun Gong.
Car Accident
I was released from the detention center 40 days later. Before I finished reading the book Zhuan Falun, I started distributing Falun Gong informational materials, because I wanted to help more people know about Falun Gong.
I was hit by a van one night when I was walking along the road, carrying a large bag of materials. I was thrown into a ditch quite far away. I wasn't afraid and didn't feel any pain.
I was about to stand up, but I couldn't find my shoes. I said out aloud to myself, “Where are my shoes?”
After hearing that, the driver came running over and said, “You're still alive? I thought I had killed you.”
“I am a Falun Dafa cultivator. I have my master to protect me,” I replied. “If I didn't practice, you might indeed have killed me.”
I told the driver about Falun Gong and the persecution, and didn't make any trouble for him. I didn't need to go to the hospital and I didn't want any compensation from him.
A Camera Explodes
I was reported to the authorities and arrested in November 2000 for distributing Falun Gong materials.
The police asked me where I had gotten the materials from, but I didn't tell them. They then took a photo of me. I yelled, “Don't take my photo!”
Just then, the camera exploded. The officers were so frightened, they quit trying to take my picture. I was taken to a forced labor camp for three years.
The Fa on My Blanket
When I was in the labor camp, other Falun Gong practitioners called me a phony practitioner. I was quite upset, because I hadn't yet finished reading all of Zhuan Falun.
I then asked for Master's help. I said, “Master, I haven't studied the Fa, and I don't know what is in Zhuan Falun. But I want to be a Falun Dafa cultivator. I am eager to study the Fa.”
Suddenly, words appeared on my blanket. I read them carefully: “Genuinely guiding people toward high levels.” (Lecture One, Zhuan Falun) I was so excited. I knew that Master was helping me. I read the words on my blanket over and over for about 20 minutes. If someone called me, I just ignored them until the words gradually faded away.
Guards Feel Unwell after Beating Me
When a labor camp guard searched my room and found Master's lectures, they started to beat me. I shouted at them, “Master help me!”
They were all shocked and moved back.
Another time, we were all gathered in the canteen when a guard began to slander Dafa. I stood up and said, “That is not true. Falun Dafa is good!”
About eight guards pounced on me and started beating me. I shouted again, “Master help me!” Suddenly, my body floated up into the air, a few meters high, before coming back down again. Some of the inmates and guards were shocked. A few drug addicts still wanted to beat me, but the guards stopped them.
The guards all had problems after beating me. Some had stomachaches, while others vomited. A guard who was the head of the team told me to go to her office. When I got there, I saw a guard still vomiting.
The SARS epidemic happened in 2003, and the guards made us all take medicine and get injections. When I suggested to other practitioners not to take the medicine, the guards got angry and ordered drug addicts to beat other practitioners.
One of the guards later contracted a fever and was frightened that she might have SARS. She asked me if SARS was my teacher's magic power. I told her that my teacher came here to save people, and explained the principle that good is rewarded and doing bad incurs punishment.
She listened carefully and said, “I will listen to you.”
I was released from the labor camp in November 2003. I didn't know where to go and thought about returning to my own home, where I hadn't been for 19 years.
Unhappy Marriage
I am from Hubei Province. I was forced to marry a man from Henan Province when I was 15 years old. After we married, I realized that this family wasn't right, but I didn't have the ability to leave.
There are four boys in my husband's family. The eldest and second youngest used to severely abuse their wives, who ended up committing suicide by drinking poison.
My husband was also ill-mannered. When he beat me, he just picked up whatever was nearby, such as a stone, a brick, a piece of wood, an iron bar, or even a knife, and came at me.
After our son and two daughters were born, I thought they might bring happiness to the family, but my husband was the same as before—rough and violent.
I lost hope completely and reported him to the police. The police talked to him, but he didn't listen. Local county court officials came to talk to him, but that didn't work either. In the end, the court officials suggested that I divorce him, since he wouldn't change.
I cried bitterly. With no alternative, I decided to run away from home. I left my children behind and hadn't been home since.
After being released from the labor camp, I asked myself, “Where should I go?” I was determined to cultivate in Dafa, so I should listen to Master, thinking about things using the Fa's principles. So I decided to go back home.
Handling Family Conflicts with the Fa's Standard
I contacted local Dafa practitioners after getting home, asking for their advice about how to handle family conflicts. They shared their understandings with me, which helped me a lot. I also studied the Fa more and asked myself to do things in line with the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
I asked myself to do three things when faced with my husband's violent behavior: Look inward whenever anything happened, don't let his behavior affect me, and don't hate him. I knew I needed to be kind and compassionate to him.
I also needed to send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil behind him and ask for Master's help when things got to out of hand.
One day, my husband started to beat me with a chain. I immediately asked for Master's help. His arm dropped down right away and he started to howl. The pain showed on his face, and he said his arm was injured.
Another time he started to beat me with a brick, and I asked for Master's help again. The brick fell to the ground, and he said that his hands hurt terribly.
I said, “Your hands will be alright if you stop beating people. There is an old saying that good deeds are rewarded and bad ones are punished. It is not a joke.”
My husband hasn't beaten me since. He is now a bit afraid of me, and he stopped interfering with me when I do Dafa work.
My husband hasn't fully understood Dafa, but he has changed a lot. My family is happier than before—like a real family.
