Gansu Women's Prison Authorities Abuse and Humiliate Falun Gong Practitioners

Nov. 28, 2018 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Gansu

(Minghui.org) In Gansu Women's Prison, Falun Gong practitioners who refuse to give up their belief are severely tortured. They have been deprived of sleep, forced to stand for long periods, and beaten.

Ms. Xu Liying, 70, a retired teacher, was forced to squat for long periods of time for over six months. She was ordered to write “thought reports” and her use of a toilet was limited.

Ms. Wang Ruilin, 61, is a retired factory worker. She was incarcerated and then released in 2013. When she was visiting a fellow practitioner, Ms. Zhang Jianhua, on July 28, 2017, she was arrested and held in the No. 1 Detention Center in Lanzhou. She was later sentenced to five years in prison. Because she refused to write a report and give up her belief, she was tortured.

Ms. Zhang Jianhua was sent to the same prison.

Guard Sun Liwei instigated other inmates to humiliate Falun Gong practitioners by ordering them to curse Falun Gong and its founder, and by putting the name of the founder on the toilet seats. Practitioners' bathroom breaks were limited.

Practitioners were forced to watch videos that slandered Falun Gong and its founder. Then they were ordered to write “thought reports.” If the guards did not approve of what the practitioners wrote, they beat, cursed and otherwise tortured them.
