Taiwan: “I Cannot Understand Why the Chinese Communist Party Is Persecuting Them”

Nov. 29, 2018 |   By Minghui correspondents from Taiwan

(Minghui.org) Taiwan is visited frequently by Mainland Chinese, who are often surprised by the freedom in Taiwan as compared to their homeland. Falun Dafa practitioners hold activities and reach out to Chinese tourists at the most popular tourist sites in Taiwan to introduce the peaceful mind-body cultivation practice and expose the ongoing persecution of the practice in China. These activities are often the first opportunity for visitors from China to learn about Falun Dafa beyond the lies perpetrated by the Chinese regime.

5,000 Practitioners Create Large-scale Image of Zhuan Falun

Approximately 5,000 Falun Dafa practitioners assembled at Freedom Square in Taipei on November 24 to form a large image of the book Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Dafa. They also demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises.

In addition to the practitioners from Taiwan, more than 600 participants came from Japan, Vietnam, South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Finland, and Brazil.

Wu Chinghsiang, who designed the pattern, said, “Zhuan Falun is the main book of the teachings that guide Falun Dafa practitioners. Zhuan Falun has been translated into more than 40 languages. The English language version is depicted here.

“The teachings in Zhuan Falun are profound. We want to share them with everyone because we have benefited from them both physically and spiritually.

“Since it takes many practitioners to create this pattern we rehearsed for several months. We want people to know that Falun Dafa is important.”

Finding Inner Peace

Jiang Lanxiang from Vietnam has been practicing Falun Dafa for three years and has participated in the pattern formations in Taiwan for the last three years. This year, she handed out informational flyers about the practice to tourists.

Ms. Jiang said, “As soon as I started practicing Falun Dafa, I immediately felt energized. I learned how to control my emotions and started to look at problems in a positive way. I also stopped blaming others. I quit drinking. I've found inner peace and now my life is meaningful.

“I often travel abroad. Before, I traveled for fun and to take photos. Now, I travel to talk to people about Falun Dafa. This makes me much happier than taking photos.”

Many tourists were attracted to the magnificent scene of so many practitioners working in harmony.

Mr. Lai, a Chinese living abroad, said he'd never seen such a large scale event held by practitioners before. He took many photos.

“This event is so meaningful,” he said. “I want to document it and put it online so that more people can see it. People should have freedom of belief, and I support them. Falun Dafa practitioners are very self-disciplined. They are peaceful and harm no one. They are completely different from what the Communist Party tries to tell people they are. The suppression of Falun Dafa in China is so wrong.”

Chinese Tourists at Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Impressed

Freedom Square is one of the tourist spots in Taiwan where practitioners regularly hold activities. Another location is Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.

Chinese tourists read about Falun Dafa at Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.

The tour guides at Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall have seen practitioners' activities for many years, so they are familiar with the practice and know about the persecution in China. When tourists from China hesitate to talk to practitioners, the tour guides encourage them to break through their preconceived notions.

One guide told his Chinese tourists, “Go ahead and take a look at the Falun Dafa display boards. Don't be afraid. Freedom of belief and thought are basic human rights. The government should not interfere. You have the right to see or hear what you choose.”

The younger tourists from China are usually less inhibited and talk to practitioners. One young Chinese on a business trip to Taiwan told practitioners, “I've seen Falun Dafa practitioners' activities many times in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, but I've never had time to learn all the details. Today, I came here right after getting off the plane. I want to know why the Communist Party suppresses Falun Dafa, and yet so many people in other countries practice it.

“I don't believe everything the Communist Party says. I need more information, and I will draw my own conclusion.”

He talked to a practitioner for a long time and left with a bag full of informational materials about Falun Dafa. He said, “I will be in Taiwan for a week, and I'll come back and talk to you before I leave.”

Tourists from mainland China are usually impressed by practitioners' display boards.

Most Chinese tourists who read the display boards agree with the information. Almost everyone has said they are against the former Communist Party head who initiated the persecution. After reading the boards, many people tell practitioners their stories of how the former leader brought disaster to China and its people.

One elderly man said, “Everybody I know dislikes him. Shame on him! The Communist Party is no better than a group of thugs. Everyone in the government is corrupt.

“Falun Gong is a spiritual movement,” he added. “Why does the Party suppress it? The Party only believes in killing people. From the day it began, it has been murdering us. If everyone has a spiritual belief, and they believe that heaven is watching how we behave, who would commit bad deeds?”

He continued, “The persecution of Falun Dafa is so cruel. Heaven will punish the killers. It is coming soon.”

Playing Tang Drums at the Train Station

Practitioners from Hualian, Taiwan, played traditional Tang-style drums and demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises at the local train station on October 21. They also collected signatures on the petition in support of the lawsuits filed by practitioners around the world against the former head of the Party in China.

People sign the petition to support practitioners' peaceful resistance to the persecution in China.

Mr. Wu, a local elementary school teacher, said, “Watching the practitioners' performances and the exercise demonstration and listening to their beautiful music, I feel at peace. My anxiety is gone. My heart feels pure. It is such a great thing that so many people are doing such a good practice. I cannot understand why the Communist Party is persecuting them.”

Mr. Wu said he'd heard about the state-sanctioned organ harvesting in China. “I'm happy that I signed the petition, because history shows us that all tyrants crash and burn sooner or later.”
