(Minghui.org) After more than a year of detention, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lei Xiuhua was recently sentenced to two years of imprisonment. This was believed to be related to a criminal complaint she filed against Jiang Zemin, former communist party leader who ordered the persecution of Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual practice based on five sets of exercises and the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. About 100 million people were practicing it when the persecution began in July 1999.
Ms. Lei, in her 50s, is a resident of Oroqen Autonomous Banner in Inner Mongolia. She was arrested at her shoe shop on November 21, 2017. First kept at the Eqi Detention Center, she was later transferred to the Hailar Detention Center.
Oroqen Court held a trial against her through videoconferencing on March 15, 2018. The judge initially said a verdict would be reached after 40 days, but no information was heard afterwards.
Ms. Lei was recently notified of a two-year prison term. She is currently being held at the Hailar Detention Center, where she has been suffering from high blood pressure.
Ms. Lei has been arrested numerous times previously for her belief. She was forced to stay away from home in 2008 and ran a small business to make a living. But during a trip to purchase goods, she was arrested and held at the Tumuji Labor Camp for three years. While held at Team Two of the labor camp in 2011, she was subjected to various forms of abuse, including solitary confinement and being hung up with feet off the floor.
