Kunming Woman Fired from Her Job and Arrested for Talking to Her Colleagues about Falun Gong

Dec. 14, 2018 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Yunnan Province, China

(Minghui.org) A Kunming woman is now facing indictment after she was arrested for the second time for telling people about her faith in Falun Gong, which she credits for curing her of Hepatitis B.

Ms. Tang Qiuyuan, 47, was arrested on November 23, 2018, at Kunhua Hospital after the security reported her to the police for passing out Falun Gong informational materials to her colleagues.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body discipline persecuted by the communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Tang had worked at the hospital for six months as a front desk receptionist. She told her colleagues how Falun Gong cured her Hepatitis B and explained that the practice is nothing like what has been depicted by the regime's slanderous propaganda. Some of her colleagues, however, reported her to the police, resulting in her being fired by the hospital.

She returned to the hospital on November 23, her last work day, with several booklets of Falun Gong informational materials, still trying to help her colleagues learn the truth behind the persecution, but was eventually arrested and detained.

Ms. Tang's family visited her twice at the Baimasi Women's Detention Center following her arrest. The guards didn't allow them to deposit money into her commissary account and only agreed to have them send some clothes for her.

When her family recently demanded her release at the Jinbi Police Station, they were told that her case had already been submitted to the procuratorate and she is now facing indictment.

Ms. Tang began to practice Falun Gong in 2013 for health improvement. Because of having Hepatitis B, she was denied many job opportunities and her husband left her. She soon regained her health after learning Falun Gong and was eager to let more people know about the practice.

Prior to her latest arrest, she was arrested for the first time on August 17, 2017, also after being reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong at her workplace. She started a hunger strike to protest the arbitrary detention and was released three days later.
