(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, 20 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 10 were illegally arrested.

1. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Haixia Tortured in Prison

Ms. Zhang Haixia and her husband, Mr. Wen Yingzhou, were arrested at home on June 18, 2014. The second hearing of their trial was held by Xiangfang District Court on October 10, 2014. Ms. Zhang was sentenced to a six-year prison term, while Mr. Wen was sentenced to four years.

Ms. Zhang was injected with unknown drugs while she was held in the No.2 Detention Center, resulting in her developing mental disorders. However, she was still taken to Heilongjiang Women's Prison, where she is incarcerated in the No.10 Ward. She was also tortured by inmates who are assigned to monitor practitioners.

2. [Hunchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Gao Junying Not Released after 15 Day Detention

Ms. Gao Junying was arrested on November 14, 2018. She continues to be detained, although her detention was for no more than 15 days.

3. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Shi Yunjia Tortured in Detention Center

Mr. Shi Yunjia was arrested on October 12, 2018. He is being held in solitary confinement in the Changchun City No.2 Detention Center. He is in critical condition and often vomits blood as a result of being tortured.

4. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Shan Qinshu Taken into Custody

Song Zhenghe, a deputy head of the Sujiatun District Domestic Security Division, and officers from Huxi Police Station broke into Ms. Shan Qinshu's home in Chenxiang Town on the morning of December 8, 2018. They ransacked the residence and confiscated her Falun Gong books.

Ms. Shan was taken to the police station.

5. [Beijing] Ms. Zhang Guifen Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Zhang Guifen was arrested on March 13, 2018. Officers confiscated her Falun Gong books, a notebook, and computer.

Ms. Zhang was recently sentenced to a two-year prison term by Tongzhou District Court. She has since filed an appeal.

6. [Beijing] Mr. Zou Xiong Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Zou Xiong was recently sentenced to a three-and-a-half-year prison term and fined 4,000 yuan.

7. [Tianjin] Mr. Deng Liangqun Arrested

Mr. Deng Liangqun, 54, from the Dagang District, Binhai New Area, was arrested by plainclothes officers from the Shengli Police Station on December 7, 2018, for distributing Falun Gong informational materials.

8. [Tianjin] Ms. Ma Shufen Detained

Ms. Ma Shufen from the Beichen District was arrested on December 4, 2018, and her home ransacked. She was taken to the Beichen Detention Center.

9. [Tianjin] Ms. Su Fengzhi Arrested

Officers from the Chengguan Town Police Station in the Wuqing District broke into Ms. Su Fengzhi's home and arrested her on the afternoon of December 6, 2018. They ransacked the residence and confiscated her Falun Gong books and cell phones.

10. [Tianjin] Ms. Liu Rehan Detained

Ms. Liu Rehan from the Hebei District was arrested on December 3, 2018, and taken to the Hebei Detention Center.

11. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Guozhen Arrested

Ms. Li Guozhen from the Shahezhai area was arrested by officers from the Shimenzhai Police Station on December 9, 2018. Her Falun Gong books were confiscated.

12. [Laiwu City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Chuanying and Ms. Ren Xiuying Tried

Ms. Wang Chuanying and Ms. Ren Xiuying were arrested by officers from the Chengzipo Police Station on March 25, 2018. The third hearing of their trial at Gangcheng District Court was held on the morning of December 11.

13. [Dezhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Dong Juan Tried

Ms. Dong Juan from the Lingcheng District was arrested on October 21, 2017, while talking to people about Falun Gong in the Zhaohu Town Farmers' Market. She was taken to Dezhou Detention Center and released on bail a month later. She was also forced to pay 20,000 yuan.

Ms. Dong's case was turned over to the Procuratorate in October 2018. She was tried by the Qihe County Court on December 7.

14. [Fufeng County, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Li Luxiang Detained

Mr. Li Luxiang was taken to the Fufeng County Detention Center.

15. [Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province] Six Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Ma Daoming, Ms. Meng Xiaojing and four other elderly practitioners were arrested at Mr. Ma's home on June 28, 2018, when they were studying Falun Gong teachings together. Ms. Meng was taken to a detention center, while the other practitioners were released later that evening.

Ms. Meng was released a month later, but she was arrested again on the evening of October 28. She was taken to a detention center and tried by the Qingjiangpu District Court on November 27.

16. [Li County, Hunan Province] 75-Year-Old Mr. Tan Huidong's Prison Term Extended

Mr. Tan Huidong, 75, was arrested by officers from the Li County Police Department in 2013. He was sentenced to a three-and-a-half-year prison term by the county court but was later released on medical parole for health reasons.

In 2016, Judge Liu Aimin took Mr. Tan to the Changde City Hospital for a physical exam. Mr. Tan was taken to Wangling Prison in You County straight after. He was put in solitary confinement and has developed several illnesses due to the persecution.

Mr. Tan's original prison term ended this year, but it was extended because he refused to give up his belief.

17. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Three Practitioners Facing Trial

Ms. Guo Yafen, Ms. Zeng Huaying, and Ms. Zeng Haiping are to be tried by Mei County Court on the morning of December 13, 2018.

18. [Lianping County, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zhao Haiqin and Mr. Huang Baiming Detained

Ms. Zhao Haiqin and Mr. Huang Baiming were arrested by officers from the Lianping County Domestic Security Division on November 28, 2018. They were taken to the Lianping Detention Center.

19. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Yang Ying Detained for Nearly Two Years

Ms. Yang Ying was arrested at her home by officers from the Passenger Transport Station's Police Station in the Tianhe District in January 2017. She was tried on December 12, 2017, and has been held in a detention center for nearly two years.

20. [Liuzhou City, Guangxi Province] Ms. Cai Liuyan Detained

Ms. Cai Liuyan was arrested by officers from the Liuzhou City Domestic Security Division and Jila Police Station on December 1, 2018, for distributing Falun Gong informational materials. She was held in criminal detention for five days and has since returned home.

21. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Duan Xueqin Arrested

Ms. Duan Xueqin from Daban Town, Bairin Right Banner, was arrested by the Bairin Right Banner police on December 6, 2018, for distributing desktop calendars containing information about Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home and confiscated a computer, Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and Falun Gong calendars.
