(Minghui.org) Ms. Ji Wenbo, 65, from the Sartu District in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, was instructed to go to the residential community office to collect heating subsidies, where she was arrested when she arrived. She has since been detained and has been on a hunger strike for over a month.
Ms. Ji’s relatives and friends respect her for her kindness and for taking good care of her ailing mother.
Officials from the Tiexi Residential Community in Sartu District instructed Ms. Ji to come to their office to collect her 2018 heating allowance on November 2, 2018. When she arrived, she ran into a residential police officer that she knew. Just as she was leaving the building, the officer told her to follow him to the community police office. Ms. Ji refused to go with him.
Just then, another officer arrived and together they dragged Ms. Ji to the office. During the confrontation, Ms. Ji fell to the ground. A few more officers then arrived, put her in a vehicle, and drove away.
Someone said that the officers were from the Honggang Police Department. The excuse they gave for taking her was that Ms. Ji was needed at the police department.
Her family became concerned about her, and they didn't know about her arrest until nearly 20 days afterward. They asked around only to learn that she was being held in the Daqing City Detention Center.
Ms. Ji has been held in custody for over a month and has been on a hunger strike to protest the illegality of her detainment.
Ms. Ji never married. She worked in a Daqing City municipal unit that was closed down in the early 1990s. The employees received no severance pay, so Ms. Ji did odd jobs to make ends meet. She also took care of her mother, who suffered from severe lung and heart disease.
At the age of 40, Ms. Ji developed heart problems, rheumatoid arthritis, and digestive issues. She couldn't eat cold food and was weak and thin. She couldn't afford treatment however. In addition, her mother's condition was becoming serious, which made her life more difficult. She was physically and mentally exhausted, and her days wore on like years.
Ms. Ji fortunately encountered Falun Dafa in 1996. After she began practicing, her illnesses disappeared, and her mood became upbeat. She disciplined herself according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and worked on becoming a better person. She experienced a moral uplift, and her mind and body underwent great changes.
The Chinese Communist Party, headed by Jiang Zemin, launched the nationwide persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, after which tens of millions of families endured hostility and ill-treatment. Due to the persecution, she became displaced and had no place to live for years.
We call upon people around the world who uphold justice to bring attention to Ms. Ji's plight.
