(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Hui and Ms. Zhang Qinghua have been subjected to relentless torture after they began to serve their second term at Liaoning Women's Prison for refusing to give up their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline under severe persecution by the communist regime since 1999.
For Falun Gong practitioners who are imprisoned here for the second time, the guards usually send them back to the ward where they served their first term.
Each ward in the prison has a specialized team to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. In order to force them to give up their faith, the prison guards often instigated felons with incentives of term reduction to torture and humiliate the practitioners.
The two women, both in their 60s, are currently held at the No.10 division in the first ward. The prison guards deprived them of sleep, poured cold water onto their bodies during winter, or struck them in the head after covering them with plastic bags. They almost passed out after the beatings.
The guards and inmates also stripped off their clothes and tattooed their private areas with the name of Falun Gong's teacher.
Ms. Liu is now experiencing headaches and pain in her eyes, while Ms. Zhang is in a delirious state.
Ms. Liu from Benxi City was arrested on June 28, 2016, and sentenced to four years on May 11, 2017. She was taken to Liaoning Women's Prison on October 31, 2017. Prior to her latest term, she has served another five years in the same prison in the early years of the persecution.
Ms. Zhang, from Shenyang City, was arrested on November 14, 2016, for distributing calendars with messages about Falun Gong. She was sentenced to three years on September 29, 2017, and began to serve her term since January 9, 2018.
During her previous 3.5-year term here in 2008, she was beaten on a regular basis and the guards repeatedly threw her up in the air and let her hit the ground. She suffered severe trauma to her brain and nervous system.
