(Minghui.org) A Shenyang City resident was convicted for suing former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for initiating the persecution of Falun Gong. She was recently admitted to prison after the local higher court ruled to uphold the original guilty verdict against her.
Ms. Wu Naiying, 62, credits Falun Gong with returning her to health, but she was given two years of forced labor in 2003 and sentenced to 4 years in prison in 2008 for her faith.
She filed a criminal complaint against Jiang in June 2015, only to be arrested again on November 14, 2016. The local police tried to keep her at Shenyang City Detention Center, but they had to check her into Shenyang 242 Hospital when her blood pressure shot up to dangerously high levels.
Ms. Wu was moved back to the detention center half a month later, where she continued to suffer from high blood pressure and developed shingles.
Her family learned from the detention center director in mid-December 2017 that she was sentenced to 3 years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan months ago, on September 29. The family, however, was never informed of her court appearance.
Ms. Wu filed an appeal, but it was soon rejected by Shenyang City Intermediate Court. She was transferred to Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on January 9, 2018.
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
In its “registration system reform opinions,” the Supreme People's Court in China claimed that it would guarantee the registration and processing of all complaints filed. This new policy was to take effect on May 1, 2015.
