Everything Is Simple and Easy When We Consider Others First

Feb. 14, 2018 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Liaoning, China

(Minghui.org) After cultivating Falun Dafa for 19 years, I’ve realized the importance of studying the Fa well and cultivating solidly, and my cultivation experiences at home and at work have been relatively smooth and stable.

The only time I was persecuted was when I was held in a forced labor camp. But after going on a hunger strike for a few months, I was released. Back at home, I studied the Fa, sent forth righteous thoughts, and did the exercises.

For more than a decade, I've downloaded information from the Minghui website and created many kinds of Falun Dafa truth clarification materials, so I consider myself self-sufficient when it comes to producing those materials.

However, when looking within after experiencing interference, I found that I was still attached to self-interest. But I should be selfless and consider the needs of others first in every regard.

Considering Others First

When I studied Teacher’s lectures, the following moved me greatly: “The basis before was self-serving, whereas everything forged by Dafa is not attached to self.” (“Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Atlanta Fa Conference” from Teaching the Fa at the Conference IV)

I realized that I must let go of selfishness to overcome the obstacles and constraints placed on me by the old universe. This would help me clarify the facts about Dafa more effectively. Still, when I looked within, I found selfishness hidden in many things I did.

I paid little attention to what I earned and made just enough to live on but with time left over for Falun Dafa projects. Then a former boss asked me to work for him on a large project, where I would earn quite a bit more. However, I valued my time more than money—until a coworker told me that the boss had spent a fortune hiring people but experienced poor results. He trusted my technical and teamwork abilities.

I realized that I needed to consider others first and forge good relationships, so I accepted the job despite my misgivings.

Supporting Dafa

I found out that my new boss had not withdrawn from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its youth organizations. He usually claimed that he was too tired to listen to me but was willing to hear me out one evening after work. After he did, he agreed to quit the CCP with a pseudonym.

When a CCP member came to our company to check on the number of CCP members to set up a Party branch, my boss told him that there were no Party members in his company. Then he said, “These days people are withdrawing from the CCP—so you have no reason to come back.”

When a technician from another unit came to our department to repair a machine, he found brochures with information about Falun Dafa and was flabbergasted. My boss told him not to worry about it: “It is good to have faith. Otherwise, young people lack self-control and are difficult to manage!”

Seeing Things from Others' Perspectives

Learning from these experiences, I realized that the people around us evaluate us based on how we act and talk. Ordinary people are mostly selfish and profit-oriented. As a practitioner, I must get rid of selfishness and do things based on the best interests of others.

In the past, I cherished time and wanted to do whatever was in my best interest. In fact, I used to be focused on my own needs and didn't consider others' difficulties. Once I began to see things from other people's perspectives, I changed and no longer only looked at what was best for me.

I also realized that all conflicts and contradictions that come from the attachments to fame, fortune, and sentiment were the result of selfishness. When I considered others, everything became easy and simple.

Now I can clarify the facts to people more easily. And I remain calm even when people do not accept what I have to say.
