(Minghui.org) Ms. Qu Lihua from Hailin City, Heilongjiang Province was released on October 31, 2017 after serving five years for refusing to renounce Falun Gong.
Five-Year Imprisonment
The 53-year-old woman recounted her suffering at Heilongjiang Women's Prison.
When she was first admitted to prison on April 9, 2014, she was sent to Division 11, where most imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners were held. She was forced to sit on a small plastic bench from early morning until about 10 p.m. every day. There were inmates monitoring her around the clock.
Wang Xiaoli was appointed head of division 11 in late 2014. She began to force practitioners to do hard labor for long periods of time every day.
Ms. Qu was moved to Division 7 on May 5, 2016, where she continued to be forced to labor for long hours.
The long-term abuse took a toll on Ms. Qu's health. She was very weak when she was released. Fortunately, she is now getting much better, thanks to her Falun Gong practice.
Previous Persecution
Since onset of the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Qu Lihua has been targeted for remaining steadfast in her belief.
She was fired by her workplace in 2000 and incarcerated in Harbin Women's Forced Labor Camp for a year. Three months after her release from the forced labor camp in November 2001, she was detained for another year before she was released on bail in 2003.
She had to leave home to avoid arrest in 2007, until 2013, when she was arrested and secretly sentenced to five years in prison.
