(Minghui.org) Mr. Bian Changxue, a 54-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Yutian County of Tangshan City, Hebei Province, was illegally arrested on January 5, 2016, for filing a criminal complaint against China’s former leader Jiang Zemin.
He was sentenced to 8 years in prison on December 30, 2017, after almost two years of unlawful detention. Mr. Bian has lodged an appeal against the unjust sentence.
This is the second time Mr. Bian was illegally sentenced. He had been imprisoned for 7 years for practicing Falun Gong and was not released until 2013.
Illegal Arrest and Detention
A group of officers from the Domestic Security Division of Yutian County Police Department broke into Mr. Bian’s house on January 5, 2016. They ransacked Mr. Bian's house and arrested him because he had filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin, chief culprit in the persecution of Falun Gong. Mr. Bian’s computer, printer, and other personal belongings were confiscated by police without a warrant.
Mr. Bian has been detained in the Yutian County Detention to this day, and during his detention, the Yutian Procuratorate issued his arrest warrant after the fact.
He was denied family visits on numerous occasions.
Mr. Bian is a 15-year military veteran who had joined the civilian workforce after military service.
