Additional Persecution News from China – March 12, 2018 (8 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 5 provinces. According to this report, 5 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 8 were illegally arrested.

1. [Dingzhou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Li Qing Intercepted
2. [Dachang County, Hebei Province] Ms. Gao Hongjie Detained

1. [Dingzhou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Li Qing Apprehended

Mr. Li Qing went to visit relatives in Shijiazhuang City on an expressway bus on March 11, 2018. He was apprehended at the entrance to the Dingzhou Expressway by officers who checked his ID card. He was released two hours later.

2. [Dachang County, Hebei Province] Ms. Gao Hongjie Detained

Ms. Gao Hongjie was reported to the authorities for talking to people about Falun Gong on the afternoon of March 3, 2018. She was arrested and taken to the Shaofu Police Station.

Ms. Gao was transferred to the Dachang Detention Center the following afternoon for seven days of detention. At the end of the detention no release certificate was issued from the detention center. The officers at the police station have also not issued a detention certificate.

Officers from the Zunhua City Police Department and Liubeizhai Township Police Station went to Ms. Gao's parent's home and ransacked it while she was detained. The officers confiscated Falun Dafa books.

3. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Zhou Xikun Taken to Prison

Mr. Zhou Xikun from Wuhan City University was taken to the Fanjiatai Prison in Shayang County by officers from the Hongshan District Court and Zhuodaoquan Police Station without notifying his family.

Mr. Zhou's family learned that he had been imprisoned only after being phoned by the prison officers, who told them to bring him some clothes for him.

4. [Zhongxiang City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wang Detained

A young practitioner with the last name Wang was arrested by officers from the Dongting Police Station. She was detained for 15 days.

On the 15th day, Ms. Wang was returned to her hometown by three people from the Zhongxiang City Police Station, and residential committee personnel. Ms. Wang managed to get away.

5. [Hanyang City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Cai Donglian, Ms. Yu Yuelian, and Ms. Tian Tian were arrested by officers from the Wulideng Police Station and domestic security officers. Ms. Cai's home was ransacked, and her computer and Falun Dafa books were confiscated.

6. [Guanghan City, Sichuan Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Wang Kairong, Mr. Wang Ming, Ms. Luo Huirong, and Ms. Li Zhongxiu were arrested by plainclothes officers from the Qingbaijiang District on the morning of March 11, 2018, for talking to people about Falun Gong at the Qingbaijiang flower market.

7. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Zhang Juhong Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Zhang Juhong was tried by the Huaxi District Court on the morning of February 13, 2018. The court notified Ms. Zhang's lawyer on March 2 that she had been sentenced to a four-year-and-six-month prison term.

Ms. Zhang has appealed to the Guiyang City Intermediate Court.

8. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Wenlong Appealed

Mr. Zhang Wenlong was sentenced to a one-year prison term for seeking justice for his wife, Ms. Xu Qiulan, who is serving a three-year sentence for refusing to renounce her belief in Falun Gong.

Mr. Zhang also practices Falun Gong, and knows that no law in China criminalizes the spiritual discipline. He had been working to clear his wife's name since her arrest in May 2017.

The local authorities ignored Mr. Zhang's request to release his wife. They convicted Ms. Xu on August 30 and arrested Mr. Zhang less than a month later. Mr. Zhang is now appealing his sentence with the Zibo City Intermediate Court.
