Yunnan Man Faces Indictment for His Faith, Family Sues Arresting Officers

March 4, 2018 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Yunnan Province, China

(Minghui.org) While an Anning City resident faces indictment for his faith, his family has filed a complaint against the arresting officers for violating legal procedures.

Mr. Feng Baoding, 55, was seized on October 7, 2017, after being caught pasting adhesive stickers with messages about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

This is not the first time that Mr. Feng has been targeted for his faith. He was given two years of forced labor in 2000 and sentenced to four years in prison in 2003. He had to quit his job at Huayun Industry General Company in 2011 after police tried to pressure his boss to fire him.

Mr. Feng was issued a formal arrest warrant on November 13, 2017, following his latest arrest. The local Anning City Procuratorate forwarded his case to the Xishan District Procuratorate in Kunming City on January 26, 2018.

Mr. Feng’s family recently filed a complaint against six officers in the Anning City Police Department: Ye Lin, Wang Yankun, Yin Shangrong, Zhang Chun, Li Yunchang, and Li Xinghua.

Mr. Feng’s family is accusing the police of arresting him and ransacking his home without showing a search warrant and of failing to provide him with copies of his criminal detention notice and arrest warrant.

The complaint was submitted to the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, Yunnan Province Procuratorate, and Kunming City Procuratorate. All three agencies have acknowledged receipt of the complaint.
