(Minghui.org) When Falun Gong was banned in China in 1999, tens of millions of practitioners from all walks of life were practicing it. In this article, we highlight the stories of two successful educators and how practicing Falun Dafa improved their health and spiritual well-being.

This article is continued from Part 4.

Guizhou University Lecturer Gave Her Apartment to Others

Ms. Zhao Yue, a lecturer at Guizhou University, started practicing Falun Gong in 1995. Shortly after she took up the practice, her chronic stomach pain and other illnesses disappeared. She has not gotten sick once since then. Her temperament has improved a lot as well.

Ms. Zhao is dedicated to her work. She always lets her colleagues pick the classes that they want to teach first, and then she covers those that remain.

In China, many companies or institutions build houses and then sell them to their employees at a deep discount as a benefit to be in their employ. However, the supply of apartments is often limited, so apartments are allocated to people based on seniority or a comprehensive score. Ms. Zhao had bought such an apartment from her university.

Later her husband's employer also gave him an apartment. She saw that many young lecturers in her university didn't have apartments, so she returned her apartment to the university. Many people said that she was stupid, since she then lost the equivalent of tens of thousands of dollars from the school's subsidy on the house sale. But she has no regrets, as she felt that thinking of others was the right thing to do.

When the Yangtze River flooded in 1998, Ms. Zhao donated the equivalent of a thousand dollars to flood victims, though she didn't have much money herself.

Once, one of her students was in the hospital for surgery. The student's family could not pay the medical bills. To help the family, she cashed in her fixed-term deposit (which lost interest because it was not due yet) and gave it to the student.

Former Zhengzhou University Lecturer Walked an Hour to Return One Dollar

Ms. Fu Xiaoli was a lecturer at Zhengzhou University. She started practicing Falun Gong in March 1999, when she was doing her graduate school studies.

Prior to practicing Falun Gong, she suffered from neurasthenia and had insomnia. A few days after she began practicing Falun Gong, she could sleep easily. Her rheumatism was also gone.

Ms. Fu was terminated by her university after the Chinese Communist Party began the persecution of Falun Gong. Her husband divorced her and took all the money.

She went to Shanghai to look for work in 2001, with only a couple of thousand Yuan (a few hundred dollars) given to her by her parents.

She attended a job fair and had a five-Yuan lunch (a little less than one dollar) one day. On her way home, she realized that she'd forgotten to pay for her lunch. She decided to go back the next day to pay the money.

It was raining all day the next day. Her friend said, “It was such a little amount of money and you didn't stiff them on purpose. Don't bother with it.” But she still decided to go, since she is a Falun Gong practitioner. It would cost her four Yuan to ride the bus. Since she was stretched for money, she walked for over an hour instead. She paid the five yuan, which was her budget for one day's food.

Background

Falun Gong was first taught to the public in 1992. Nearly 100 million people across China were soon practicing it due to its reputation for improving health and spiritual wellbeing. Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), perceived the spiritual discipline's growing popularity as a threat to the CCP's atheistic ideology and issued an order to ban Falun Gong on July 20, 1999.

Minghui.org has confirmed the deaths of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners in the persecution over the past 18 years; the actual number is suspected to be much higher. More have been imprisoned and tortured for their faith. Evidence shows that the CCP harvests organs from detained practitioners, who are killed in the process, to supply the organ transplant industry.

Under Jiang's personal direction, the CCP established the 610 Office, an extralegal security organization with the power to override the police and judicial systems and whose sole function is to carry out the persecution of Falun Gong.
