(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 11 provinces. According to this report, 2 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 40 were illegally arrested.

6. [Jiaozhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wang Lei Arrested

Mr. Wang Lei, in his 30s, was arrested by officers from the Chengxi Police Station on the evening of April 26, 2018. His home was ransacked.

7. [Suizhong County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Sujun and Ms. Ren Chunrong Detained

Ms. Wang Sujun and Ms. Ren Chunrong from Qiuzigou Township were arrested by officers from the Qiuzigou Police Station and Suizhong Domestic Security Division on the evening of April 24, 2018, for putting up Falun Gong banners.

The homes of both practitioners were ransacked and officers confiscated Ms. Wang's Falun Gong books, and Ms. Ren's music player and Falun Gong calendar.

Ms. Wang and Ms. Ren were taken to the Huludao Detention Center.

Ms. Yang Dandan, 22, from Dashigezhuang Village, Dasungezhuang Town, Shunyi District, was arrested by officers from the Guangming Police Station on the afternoon of April 25, 2018. The officers confiscated her Falun Gong books.

Ms. Yang was taken to the Nihe Detention Center.

Ms. Li Zengying from Yinma Town was arrested by officers from the Yinma Police Station on April 26, 2018. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated a computer, two printers, Falun Gong books, and photos of the founder of Falun Gong.

Ms. Li was taken to the Weifang Detention Center.

10. [Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Xia Yulan Arrested

Ms. Xia Yulan was arrested on April 27, 2018.

11. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Huang Yongmei and Ms. Zhou Mingli Detained

Ms. Huang Yongmei and Ms. Zhou Mingli were arrested on April 25, 2018. They were held in the Wuhan City Administrative Detention Center for ten days.

Ms. Cai Xinou was reported to the authorities for distributing Falun Gong materials in the Zuojiatang area on the afternoon of April 24, 2018. She was arrested by officers from the Zuojiatang Police Station.

Ms. Cai's whereabouts are unknown.

14. [Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Wu Xiumei Facing Trial

Ms. Wu Xiumei from the Chao'an District was arrested by officers from Jinshi Police Station on September 8, 2017, and taken to the Longkeng Detention Center.

Ms. Wu will be tried in the Chao’an Court on May 3, 2018.

15. [Huili County, Sichuan Province] Lawyers File Lawsuit Against Judge

Huili County Court canceled the trial of Ms. Hua Wanxia, Ms. Cui Deli and Ms. Zhang Huiqiong on November 17, 2017. Their lawyers refused to turn in their computers and other office supplies before the trial.

A court guard pushed Lawyer Li when the lawyer said that he would sue the judge for the illegal demands. Lawyer Lu tried to take a picture of the guard’s actions, but he was dragged into an office and beaten by a group of guards. The three lawyers’ computers and other office supplies were then confiscated.

The three lawyers filed a lawsuit against the judge on January 12, 2018. The case has been registered and a hearing was held on the morning of April 27.

16. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Dianguo Tried

Mr. Wang Dianguo, his wife Yu Baofang and son Wang Yu were arrested at their home on July 4, 2017. Ms. Yu was persecuted to death 13 days later. Mr. Wang Dianguo has been detained since then.

Tiexi District Court tried Mr. Wang Dianguo on the morning of April 24, 2018. No verdict was made.

17. [Chenzhou City, Hunan Province] Mr. Liao Zhijun Sentenced

Mr. Liao Zhijun was arrested on May 28, 2017, for refusing to renounce his belief in Falun Gong. He was tried on February 2, 2018, and sentenced to four years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan on March 27.

Mr. Liao's family and lawyer were not given copies of the verdict, and didn't learn of his sentence until they were told to visit him at the local detention center.

An appeal was made, but the Chenzhou City Intermediate court upheld the original verdict on April 8, without holding a hearing.

Mr. Liao has previously been imprisoned for a total of nine-and-a-half years. His most recent arrest was on May 28, 2017, and was six months after his release.

18. [Guangshan County, Henan Province] Mr. He Yuanlang and Mr. Jian Xuefu Taken to Prison

Mr. He Yuanlang, 45, and Mr. Jian Xuefu, 49, were arrested on March 22, 2017, for refusing to renounce their belief in Falun Gong. The Guangshan County Court sentenced them on December 15. Mr. He was given a five-year prison term, and Mr. Jian was given a four-and-a-half-year term. They were both also fined 10,000 yuan.

The two practitioners filed an appeal, but the Xinyang City Intermediate Court upheld the original verdicts on March 9, 2018.

Mr. He and and Mr. Jian were taken to the Xinmin Prison in Zhengzhou City on April 12.

19. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Cao Junyu Appeals Sentence

Ms. Cao Junyi, 56, from Maoming City, was arrested on July 6, 2017, after being reported to the authorities for tearing down a poster defaming Falun Gong.

She was tried on January 11, 2018. Her sentence hearing was held five days later, and judge Jiang Guowei convicted her in less than 20 minutes.

Ms. Cao hired two new lawyers to appeal her case. The lawyers submitted her appeal to the Maoming Intermediate Court on January 19. They presented two more documents to the court on April 10.

One was a letter addressed to the court president Lin Jian Hui and three judges assigned to the case, Zhang Shuming, Liang Dongqing, and Mo Shaofen. The lawyers called for the court president and judges to overturn the guilty verdict against Ms. Cao and to acquit her immediately.

The other document detailed how her first trial tried and sentenced Ms. Cao without any legal justification.

20. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Fourteen Practitioners Arrested

A total of 14 practitioners were arrested at the home of Mr. Gong Chengge on April 23, 2018.

Mr. Gong was released the following day, along with Ms. Gao Xiuqing and four other practitioners. The remaining eight practitioners are still being held at unknown locations.

Their families have filed a complaint against officers Li Xuejun and Yin Hang, who were in charge of the arrests.
