(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, at least 30 Falun Gong practitioners were illegally arrested, 10 practitioners were sent to detention centers, 4 practitioners were given prison terms, and at least 2 practitioners were either subjected to abuse or have gone a hunger strike to protest the mistreatment.

1. [Beijing] Mr. Liu Yuxiang Officially Arrested

Mr. Liu Yuxiang was arrested on March 5, 2018, while talking to people about Falun Gong at Wuyi Park in Tongzhou District. He was officially placed under arrest on April 10, 2018.

2. [Tianjin] Ms. Ma Shuhua Detained

Ms. Ma Shuhua from Hongqiao District was arrested by officers from the Shaogongzhuang Police Station and the Hongqiao District Domestic Security Division on the morning of April 27, 2018. The officers confiscated over 40 Falun Gong books and informational brochures, a cell phone, and a notebook computer. Ms. Ma was taken to Hongqiao District Detention Center. Her husband was also held for about seven hours that day.

3. [Tieling City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zheng Shikui Tried

Mr. Zheng Shikui from Sanjiangkou Town in Changtu County was arrested on November 28, 2017. She was tried by the Lishu County Court on April 11, 2018. The trial ended without a verdict being issued.

4. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Ke Juxiu, Ms. Liu Chunsheng and Ms. Liu Dongzhi from Xian'an District were arrested by officers from the Maqiao Town Police Station while distributing informational materials about the practice in Maqiao Town on April 19, 2018. Ms. Liu Dongzhi has been released, while the other two women were taken to the Xian'an District Detention Center.

5. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Shang Xiujun, Ms. Li Guibin, Ms. Song Hezhen, and Ms. Gao Xingtai from Shimenzhai Town were arrested by officers from the Shimenzhai Town Police Station on the afternoon of April 27, 2018. At the time, the four women were studying the Falun Gong teachings at Ms. Shang's home.

The officers confiscated their Falun Gong books, informational materials, and photos of the founder of the practice. Ms. Shang was taken to the Qinhuangdao City No. 2 Detention Center for ten days of detention, while the other three practitioners were released that evening.

6. [Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Dexiang on Hunger Strike

Ms. Sun Dexiang from Wuying District was recently arrested by officers from the Hongsheng Police Station for telling people about Falun Gong. She is being held in a detention center and has gone on a hunger strike.

7. [Yongzhou City, Hunan Province] Mr. Wang Linqiang Given a Three-Year Prison Term

Mr. Wang Linqiang was arrested and taken to the Maojiaqiao Detention Center by officers from the Nanjindu Police Station on April 26, 2017. He was sentenced to a three-year prison term on December 23, 2017, and is being held in the No. 10 Ward of Wangling Prison in You County, Zhuzhou City.

8. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Song Zhigang Given a 14-Year Prison Term

Mr. Song Zhigang was recently sentenced to 14 years in prison by the Akto County Court in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

9. [Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Zhao Lanqin Arrested

Ms. Zhao Lanqin was arrested by the Jingchuan County police from Gansu Province on April 18, 2018. She was being held in the Weiyanglu Police Station, but escaped.

10. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Mr. Li Chunsheng Arrested

Mr. Li Chunsheng was recently arrested.

11. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Several Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Su Guiru, Mr. Li Junwei, and other practitioners were arrested by officers from the Changyi District Police Department, the Domestic Security Division, and the Zhanqian Police Station on the afternoon of April 16, 2018, while talking to people about Falun Gong. The officers ransacked their homes. Mr. Li Junwei was taken to the Jilin City Detention Center, while the other practitioners have been released.

12. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested

Jiaozhou City resident Mr. Huang Yuqiang and his family were arrested by officers from the Zhongyun Police Station on April 27, 2018. Their Falun Gong books, informational materials, a notebook computer, and a printer were confiscated.

Ms. Du Shanying and her daughter Ms. Huang Yan were arrested on the afternoon of April 28, 2018. Ms. Du has been released, while Ms. Huang was placed under criminal detention at the Pudong Detention Center.

13. [Tianjin] Ms. Zhang and Ms. Du Arrested

Ms. Zhang and Ms. Du from Hedong District were arrested on April 24, 2018.

14. [Linqu County, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Zhilong Arrested

Mr. Zhang Zhilong from Shihedian Village, Yeyuan Town was arrested on April 17, 2018. His Falun Gong books, computer, and printer were confiscated.

15. [Longkou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Qu Chunxiang Detained

Ms. Qu Chunxiang from Huanggezhuang Village in Dongjiang Town was arrested by officers from the Donglai Police Station on April 27, 2018, for talking to people about the practice. She was held in the Zhangjiagou Detention Center for five days.

16. [Huidong County, Guangdong Province] Mr. He Jingru Sentenced

Mr. He Jingru from Huidong County was arrested on April 4, 2017. He was secretly sentenced to five years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan for his belief in Falun Gong.

Prior to his latest arrest, Mr. He was detained for a total of 15 years for his belief.

17. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Lu Chunxia Appealed

Ms. Lu Chunxia from Baiyun District was sentenced to two years of imprisonment by the Shunde District Court in Foshan City, Guangdong Province in February 2018. She has filed an appeal.

Ms. Lu refused to wear the prison uniform or handcuffs in the detention center. She was not allowed to meet with her lawyer on April 23, 2018.

18. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Liang Yuansheng’s Case Submitted to Court

Mr. Liang Yuansheng was arrested before the 19^th Chinese Communist Party National Congress held in October 2017. His lawyer visited him at the Maoming No. 1 Detention Center on the morning of January 3, 2018, and found out that he was in poor health, and that his gastric disease had relapsed.

His family hired another lawyer from Beijing who visited him on the morning of April 11, 2018. His case was submitted to Maonan District Court on April 24, 2018. The court will hold a session in May.

19. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Li Caizhi’s Health Deteriorating

Ms. Li Caizhi was sentenced to three years in prison. She appealed to the Chifeng Intermediate Court, but the original sentence was upheld without a public hearing.

Ms. Li’s eldest son and other family members visited her at Ningcheng County Detention Center on April 23, 2018. Since her detention nine months ago, Ms. Li’s weight drastically decreased to 110 pounds from her original weight of 165 pounds. There were also bruises on her arms, she had high blood pressure, and she needed to take medication every day to bring it down.

20. [Panshi City, Jilin Province] Mr. Guo Baojun and Mr. Liu Desheng Arrested

Mr. Guo Baojun and Mr. Liu Desheng were reported to the authorities while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong on the night of March 18, 2018. The police opened fire to break their car window and took the two practitioners to Panshi Detention Center.

Their arrests were approved on April 20, 2018.
